Dr. Anand Prakash is a board-certified nephrologist and founder of NephronLife Kidney Care in Dallas, TX. In his practice, he diagnoses and treats the full spectrum of kidney disorders— from acute kidney injury and chronic kidney disease to glomerulonephritis, electrolyte disturbances, hypertension and polycystic kidney disease. He offers in-office and hospital-based procedures such as kidney biopsy, vascular access creation for hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis, continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) and plasmapheresis. Known for blending clinical excellence with cutting-edge therapeutics—like SGLT2 inhibitors, anemia management protocols and home-dialysis training—Dr. Prakash emphasizes early intervention, personalized treatment plans (including fluid and blood-pressure management, medication optimization and dietary counseling) and empowering patients to actively manage both kidney and cardiovascular health.
Dr. Prakash began his medical journey in India, where …he earned his medical degree before relocating to the United States. Recognizing the pivotal role of nutrition in slowing kidney disease progression, he completed a Master’s in Clinical Nutrition at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. There, he honed the design of individualized nutritional regimens—low-protein, low-sodium, phosphate-binders and tailored caloric plans—to complement pharmacologic and procedural therapies in CKD and dialysis patients.
He then completed an Internal Medicine residency, serving as a hospitalist and adjunct assistant professor at both UAB and the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, where he chaired departmental meetings and sat on key hospital committees. Returning to UAB for a Nephrology fellowship, Dr. Prakash trained under internationally recognized experts in managing complex cases—refractory hypertension, multi-organ failure and advanced glomerular disease—and became adept at performing and interpreting renal biopsies, coordinating immunosuppressive therapy protocols and collaborating on vascular access surgery.
In 2021, he moved to Texas to establish NephronLife Kidney Care, a multidisciplinary practice offering outpatient hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis training, tele-nephrology consultations and integrated services with dietitians, social workers and transplant coordinators—bringing forward-thinking, patient-centered kidney care to the Dallas community.
