Dr. Anandraj Andy Mattai, MD

I’ve seen Dr. Mattai’s true colors come to light, and he really does not have the patient’s best interest at heart. I honestly believe that he only cares for his practice and the advancement of it (aka making money). As a new patient, I saw one of his nurse practitioners, Kimberly Lim, who is TERRIBLE (do NOT go to her)! Kimberly never asked about my day, my week, or well-being. The first thing she said at my appt was, ‘alright let’s get to the meds.’ I told her I was feeling awful and wanted to tell her what was going on, but she snapped that she didn’t have time and had another patient. (My appt was for 20 min yet she only spent 15 min with me). If you want a doctor who treats you like a commodity/assembly line and only does superficial checks/med mgmt, I guess you can go to her. She says she has no time for talk therapy and that is the job of my therapist. She further went onto say that I’m paying for a therapist so why don’t I take advantage of it. All in all, her bedside manner,… tone, and attitude is rude, cold, uncaring, dismissive, and downright awful. She even tried charging me for filling out referral forms which should actually be and are free (later confirmed by Dr. Mattai) Anyways, I spoke with Dr. Mattai about everything and his simple response was, ‘you can go to another place if you dont like us.’ No apologies, efforts to understand, NOTHING. This place may have high reviews but they are being dishonest about their mission and aren’t truly and deeply caring people. Please don’t go here. Go find providers who truly hear you, get it, and are willing to go that extra mile.

I’ve struggled neither mental health issues for 20+ years. This is the first practice that has been able to find the right combo for me. Dr Mattai really cares about his patients and listens to your symptoms, needs, and outcome goals. A year ago I was referred for in-patient care and declined to self admit because I’m a single mom with no support for my kid. After working with this practice I’m back to feeling like the best version of me. I went from not being able to get out of bed at least a few times a month to being 4 weeks into a running program. Literally life saving care from a fantastic team!!

Dr. Mattai is one of the best doctors I've encountered. He is understanding, thorough, patient, and nonjudgmental. The front office staff members are excellent as well; they are always kind and professional. I feel comfortable and at ease at the office which is vital when dealing with mental health.

Ive been seeing Dr. Mattai for a few years now. He's been the most understanding, nonjudgemental doctor i've ever seen. I have a hard time talking about my issues and I feel comfortable talking to him about them. The half hour drive can be very inconvenient with 3 kids and a busy schedule - but its well worth it.

I have been seeing Dr. Mattai for a number of years now and have been quite happy with our relationship. Not only does he spend time listening quite attentively, but he has worked hard to try to find specific remedies for me based on my personal preferences. There have been a few instances in which my schedule was impacted last minute, thus required me to reschedule with him on short notice. Dr. Mattai's office was quite helpful and understanding of the situation, unlike other professionals I have dealt with in the past who requested "fees" due to the scheduling conflict. Dr. Mattai's office is also very clean, organized, and well maintained. For anyone in need of a good psychiatrist, Dr. Mattai is absolutely worth considering.

Dr. Mattai and the staff at Innovative Psychiatry are fantastic. I was having a really hard time, and they squeezed me in the next morning so I didn't have to wait. The care I received has helped me feel better and do better. They made sure I had what I needed and were totally on point with everything. They also didn't just throw things at a wall to see if they stick, they made sure that I was part of the care plan and took everything I said into consideration. I would highly recommend them to anyone who needs a psychiatrist. I saw them for depression/anxiety.

Dr. Mattai's style, accommodating service orientation, and communication modality options make it easy and stress-free to access psychiatric treatment -- something extremely important in mental health and certainly not something I routinely experience with psychiatrists. He and his office staff are courteous and non-judgmental, offering a safe space which promotes healing. Big thank you to Dr. Mattai -- I recommend Innovative Psychiatry to anyone looking for a psychiatrist in the Columbia area.

Dr. Mattai treats my son. He has a great ability to relate to teenage boys. He is clear in his communication and answers questions promptly. His staff is quick to respond to messages. I am glad we found Dr. Mattai. My son's performance in school and around the house has improved dramatically. Highly recommended.

Dr. Mattai treats my son for his ADHD, and we are so very glad we found such a compassionate, concerned doctor. He has always taken the time to listen to my issues, and I truly believe he cares that things improve in our family. His responses to calls for questions and prescriptions are prompt, which is important to me when looking for a doctor. We've been very happy with this practice.
