Dr. Antonakos has been practicing dentistry since 1984. His career has been enhanced by his memberships in numerous professional organizations. Staying at the forefront of his field has always been a high priority for Dr. Antonakos. His commitment to excellence in dentistry is evident in his frequent attendance of continuing education courses. He has completed courses on topics which include straight wire orthodontics, crown and bridge techniques, periodontics, implants, cosmetic and rehabilitative dentistry, TMJ, and snoring/sleep apnea, and was inducted in the Who’s Who Among Executives and Professionals.
From the fabrication of full or partial dentures, to the orthodontic straightening of teeth, Dr. Antonakos firmly believes that a comfortable and attractive solution can be long-term when the alignment of your bite is fully examined and repaired. It’s not enough to have straight, attractive teeth. The teeth must come together in a healthy, …supportive way when you bite down. If you have a poorly aligned bite (called a malocclusion), it can put pressure on the muscles and the jaw joint as the jaw shifts to accommodate the teeth. This can lead to TMJ disorder, which is very painful. Dr. Antonakos has years of experience helping patients improve the look and feel, as well as the alignment of their teeth, for long-term, comfortable and beautiful results.
Dr. Antonakos is also qualified to treat snoring/sleep apnea patients whose treatment involves advancement of their lower jaw. As a member of the Sleep Disorder Dental Society, he can offer patients a variety of therapy options and techniques.
Dr. Antonakos lives in Glenview with his wife and two daughters. He enjoys fishing, carpentry work, electrical repairs, and rebuilding.
