Dr. Andre Beer Furlan is a skull base and endovascular neurosurgeon at Moffitt Cancer Center and an Associate Professor of Oncologic Sciences at the University of South Florida.Dr. Beer Furlan earned his MD and PhD degrees from the University of São Paulo (FMUSP), one of the highest-ranked universities in Latin America. He completed his neurosurgery residency at the same institution and practiced as a neurosurgeon and skull base surgeon in São Paulo, Brazil, before relocating to the United States. He subsequently completed a second neurosurgery residency at Rush University, followed by advanced subspecialty fellowships in skull base microneurosurgery at Weill Cornell Medical College, minimally invasive cranial surgery at The Ohio State University, and neuroendovascular surgery at Rush University.At Moffitt Cancer Center, Dr. Beer Furlan serves as the surgical lead of a multidisciplinary program dedicated to the management of pituitary and skull base tumors. He has extensive expertise …in endoscopic endonasal approaches and minimally invasive cranial surgery for the treatment of both benign and malignant skull base lesions and complex brain tumors. His clinical practice includes pituitary adenomas, Rathke's cleft cysts, epidermoid cysts, pineal region tumors, meningiomas, schwannomas, chordomas, chondrosarcomas, craniopharyngiomas, paranasal sinus tumors, and olfactory neuroblastomas. His comprehensive training in both traditional open approaches and minimally invasive techniques allows him to offer all surgical options in an unbiased manner, with a focus on selecting the safest, most effective, and least invasive approach tailored to each patient.Dr. Beer Furlan's research interests include patient-reported outcomes and quality of life following endoscopic endonasal and keyhole approaches, prognostic biomarkers for skull base tumors, and super-selective endovascular therapeutic delivery for brain and head and neck malignancies. He has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters, is an active national and international lecturer, and serves as a reviewer for multiple neurosurgery, neurointerventional, and otolaryngology journals.He is board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery and the Brazilian Board of Neurosurgery.
