Summary
Dr. Andre Panossian is a craniofacial-trained, board-certified plastic surgeon who has devoted his career to plastic, reconstructive, and aesthetic surgery. He has performed over 4000 surgeries for children and adults with various types of complex deformities, including facial paralysis, aesthetic surgery, vascular anomalies, hand issues, and cleft lip and palate.
After graduating Summa Cum Laude with College Honors and Phi Beta Kappa from UCLA, Dr. Panossian went on to complete his medical school training at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston. While in Boston, he simultaneously pursued scientific research in the field of Tissue Engineering at Harvard Medical School via the tissue engineering laboratory at Massachusetts General Hospital. Over four years of research, Dr. Panossian helped develop some of the current concepts that are used today in cartilage and bone engineering with applications in stem cell research.
Dr. Panossian graduated at the top of his medical …school class and was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. Upon graduation from medical school, he went on to complete a highly selective and prestigious plastic surgery residency at the University of Southern California. Dr. Panossian then completed advanced training in Pediatric Plastic Surgery and Facial Paralysis Reconstruction at the world-renowned Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada. This fellowship was under the direction of Dr. Ronald Zuker and Dr. Ralph Manktelow, considered the founders of modern day facial paralysis reconstruction. Dr. Panossian went on to seek further subspecialty training at Harvard Medical School, under the direction of Dr. Joseph Upton where he subspecialized in microsurgery and vascular anomalies.
Having chosen the complex world of craniofacial surgery, Dr. Panossian further enhanced his approach to achieving natural, dynamic results by training with Dr. Daniel Labbé in Caen, France. It is there that he adopted and refined the temporalis lengthening myoplasty for facial paralysis reconstruction. After completing his training, Dr. Panossian returned to Southern California to join the Division of Plastic & Maxillofacial Surgery at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, where he founded and served as Director of the Facial Paralysis Center. In establishing this organization, he brought together physical therapists, speech therapists, psychologists, otolaryngologists, and plastic surgeons in order to treat children afflicted with facial paralysis in a highly effective multidisciplinary setting. He also implemented this approach when establishing the Vascular Anomalies Center at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, where he served as co-director, seeing patients from all over the Unites States and internationally.
Dr. Panossian is now in full-time private practice and caters to an international clientele.
