Dr. Andrea Gaye Edwards, MD

Dr Edwards is an excellent Oncologist. She is well educated, experienced and caring.

This is one of the most horrid Physicians I have ever seen. She treats you like you are a number out of a book. She won't look at you, think outside the box, listen to your questions, or give you a direct answer. I felt like I was bothering her with my questions. The more specific and detailed the question, the more irritation she seemed to feel. She misdiagnosed me, with a second type of cancer. If I had not pursued a second opinion on my own and done tons of research, sought out the best physician in the US for the Cancer she was telling me I had, I don't know where I would be today. I felt she was dangerous to my health, she won't listen, she does not like to be questioned, she does not use common sense when faced with a new problem. Seems to be unfeeling, and has no compassion. If you are newly diagnosed, you have enough to worry about without having to do battle with your Oncologist. If you do have to see her, you best be on your game, and research everything she tells… you, and don't leave her office until she fully answers all your questions (you will have to ask the same question over and over to finally get some sort of answer) It's exhausting and frustrating to deal with this woman.

She's lovely and knows her art/profession

Dr. Edwards is a doctor who is concerned about her patients. She takes time to review the patients' records so when she sees them, she can talk about their individual case. She makes sure that you have your next appointment before you leave the office. Dr. Edwards visits her patients at the hospital and many time at their homes. I really like Dr. Edwards.

Extremely unresponsive to family wishes. In spite of being presented with medical power of attorney for 88 yo man with dementia, she will apparently do whatever she wants and avoids contradictory requests from family, including the power of attorney. Ignored repeated requests for contact by the designated medical power of attorney and scheduled procedures without consultation. Instead of contacting primary doctor for consult, instructed caretaker to do this.

Dr. Edwards was possibly having a bad day? This was my first visitâ?¦ she was very short, not personable and rushed the appointment. I have decided to see another doctor.

She hates to be asked a question, let alone several. Has no compassion. Snapped at me, would not refer me for a 2nd opinion for my second cancer in less than a year. Said she can't refer everyone, and that I would "clog the system". I asked my GP about the situation and she said "Of course Ill refer you, no one would accept a diagnosis like this without a 2nd opinion!" Could not remember my name and had to glance at my chart, after seeing her for over a year. I felt like a slab of meat, with a number stamped on it. She seems to have an attitude that all her patients are idiots and they should do as she says and not question anything. I have seen tons of Dr's and nurses in the last few years, none of them recommend her. I finally was able to change Dr's and its been a world of difference.

I did not have a very good experience with this office. Most of my complaints are about the staff, however, I am also not too impressed and dont know if I can trust Dr Edwards. We are in the process of getting a second opinion and finding another Dr. Staff is very rude. They have no sympathy whatsoever and treat you like your a bother if you happen to have questions about cancer. I rarely get a call back if I request one from the Doctor. Part of this I think is the staff ignoring our request. They are making it very difficult to get records over to other Dr offices. The Dr talks in circles and is not very clear about what she is talking about. This is what makes me skeptical about her methods. Very disappointing. I am very discouraged now.

My mother "inherited" Dr Edwards when her former oncologist passed away. Our experience with her has been abysmal. We are often kept waiting for 20 minutes in the waiting room, and another 30 minutes in the exam room. She is a great advocate of testing, testing, testing, but the follow up on the results is often weeks. Most recently, my mother was hospitalized with complications due to the cancer, and Dr Edwards did not even show up for two days. If you want a doctor that respects her patients, believes their time is just as valuable as hers, and is truly concerned about patient's welfare, then I suggest you look elsewhere.

Dr. Erwards is great. She is very friendly and explains things well. She takes time to answer questions and I've never felt rushed. Although I visit the office infrequently, I always feel as if I was there yesterday because she obviously has read my history/chart and is ready to start the conversation where we left off 12 months prior. Unfortunatly I cannot say the same about the front desk staff. Calls are not returned, questions are not answered... Generally I get the feeling that things are too laxed. However, things are very important to me when it comes to me. I've noticed this for the last two years (I go to the doctor 1/year). I like Dr. Edwards but I'm often left frustrated with the office staff.
