Dr. Andrea Larosa, DO

I was a patient with DR Jenkins for decades from when she was part of a women's health practice in wantagh so if I was not patient #1 then I was close. I was sad to see Dr Mary move on. I have only positive review of Dr LaRosa and her responsiveness...following a drastic surgery in June 2022, a few days after I was discharged, I experienced issues related to the surgery that had me in panic mode. We called the office late on at night of the 4th of July and received a prompt return call from Dr LaRosa who listened to my concerns and was very reassuring ..she has also referred me to ENT specialist and that referral lead me to ENT at Mt Sinai in NY who reconstructed my vocal cords....I have had some issues with Optum since it acquired Pro Health. So my experience with Dr LaRosa has been positive on all fronts....she has also shown me compassion under dire circumstances. I have found that she reviews my file and reads EVERYTHING in my file. All I can say to those with negative… reviews whose concerns are valid is...see Dr LaRosa as her own person .....

Stay far away. Worst doctor ever. Despite being obnoxious and rude, she lacks knowledge on subject matter. You can always get an appt with her bc she’s horrible; no one wants to see her.

This is the worst physician I have ever seen. Is she really a doctor I can’t even believe she is, I wish there was a way to give negative stars. She clearly is unhappy with her career choice. She is rude, condescending, dismissive, does not make eye contact and extremely impersonal.

Dr. LaRosa deserves zero stars. Dr. Jenkins must be horrified that this person took her practice and is making all her patients leave. Shame on Optum health for allowing this “DOCTOR “ into their network. There is NO WAY Dr. Jenkins picked her as her replacement. She is uncaring, condescending, thin skinned. Stared at the computer during my whole visit. Didn’t hear a word I said. Insisted on focusing on an issue that is under control by my cardiologist, but completed ignored the fact that I was there for hypertension and A1C reassessment. When I asked, she said I was condescending. The visit very quickly went downhill. She never asked about diet, or exercise nor did she have any interest in my lifestyle or me. It was our 1st and last meeting . I’m writing this review a while after having met her. I’m still salty about the visit. P.S. I am a nurse of 36 yrs. I know a BAD doctor when I encounter one. As I read the other reviews , I know it wasn’t just me.

Today at my physical exam, I asked for my usual 6 month Vitamin D level test and Dr. Andrea LaRosa flat out refused to have it tested. I have had an ongoing issue with my Vitamin D levels and need them checked every 6 months to know how much to supplement to keep them up at the right level. I have never had a problem having it tested for years with my original doctor, Dr. Mary Jenkins, but sadly she retired and Dr. LaRosa took over. In fact, at my very first visit with her as my new doctor last year, Dr. LaRosa argued with me that it is not necessary to test D levels more than once a year and basically had no experience with patients who have to supplement in higher doses to keep their levels up. Instead of learning about her new patients and their individual needs, she decided that being argumentative and condescending is a better way to go. I was hoping that her being a DO, vs. MD, would have a more holistic approach but unfortunately she does not. In fact, she was quick to want to… push prescriptions.

In all my years going to doctors this is the worst experience I ever had. She is very short when you ask a question. I felt I was an inconvenience to her not at an appt. If I could give negative stars I would. I saw her for one visit which was my last time going to her.

Larosa was rude, obnoxious and uncaring. she fought with me, refused to write my script and was just horrible. She was so disrespectful, I walked out of the office. She took over for Dr. Mary Jenkins, who was my wonderful physician for many years. Avoid this place.

I was also a patient of Dr. Jenkins. I didn't have a problem with her bedside manner, but I felt that she did not take any time to know who I was. When discussing cholesterol numbers, she did not ask about my diet or my exercise regimen. She was quick to tell me about medications she could prescribe as opposed to going to a specialist. I felt that the climate of the office is to get as much business as possible and keep everything in house. The one aspect of my health that was not discussed was the one speciality that is not associated with that practice. I had to call the office three times to get them to consent to having bloodwork done elsewhere before my appointment. The office seemed to think it was inconvenient that I didn't want to fast until my appointment time at 3PM. The front desk told me my lab work did not transfer over, but one of the nurses had no problem finding it. I am just wondering if this is the culture of that office in general. I won't know because I don't plan… to use any of the other specialities or doctors they recommend. I also don't plan to return.

Dr Larosa is by far the nastiest, most condescending person I have ever met. It’s actually hard for me to believe that she chose to be in the health field as her profession. Long story short, she prescribed me a medication I was not comfortable taking. When I returned for a checkup, she basically spoke to me like I was a 5 year old getting reprimanded for making a choice about my own healthcare decisions. She was awful, definitely not anything like the Dr Jenkins she replaced. She is young, so hopefully she learns with age how to treat people and how to listen to patients instead of talking down to them. I will not be returning to that office. If you are looking for a caring physician who listens to you, I would not recommend her.

Dr. LaRosa took over Dr. Mary Jenkin's practice. I saw her only once. She told me she would have no problem writing scripts for my HRT as Dr. Jenkins had been doing so for several years and because I was being followed very closely. When I called to get my script refilled, she denied ever having said that. At that same visit, she told me she saw wax build up in my ears and told me I make an appointment to have her clear the wax. She advised me to call first to get a script for something to soften the wax before she removed it. When I called I was told to just get something over the counter and follow the package directions. I needed an EKG as part of medical clearance for surgery. The surgeon had already performed the physical exam and wrote me a script for the EKG and blood work. The office insisted I must get a full medical clearance exam. Dealing with the office staff is an unpleasant ordeal and I could not get to speak with the doctor herself.
