Dr. Andrea Lea Smith, MD

Up until about a year ago, I absolutely thought how fortunate we in Clarksdale are to have her. However, I have tried for 3 days to get the office by phone. Busy signal or recorded message. Twice I have gone with appointment and could not have scheduled x-Ray.,.technician (past experience was reg nurse) was out that day. Other was simply to have blood work recheck for iron done and the technician was off. I am a senior citizen whose daughter/in-law must take time off from her job to take me to doctor. Dr. Smith had been my doctor for over 25 years, but I cannot continue with this kind of treatment from her inefficient office crew and her medical crew.

Nurse practitioner was sick with a cough and runny nose and very rude

Long time wait in her office. Dr smith spends a good bit of time with patients when she sees them which may be only once a year. Her staff is not professional at all. Dr smith has one nurse who thinks she runs everything including dr. smith. The nurse is very rude to all even her elderly patients. It is hard to reach her office and when you do and ask for refills you have to go thru nurse who tells you what to do before she even talks to dr smith. Very very rude. She does not have level of knowledge to tell you what to do. I agree 100% with other review. I am going to another doctor now..

Dr. Smith has an ego the size of a barn and does not handle criticism, even of a polite nature, well. Her ego causes problems with efficient communication. She is far too busy in her practice, and many technical oversights result. Because her workload is too heavy, she relies inordinately on the hospital emergency department for admitting her patients to the hospital and carrying out her preliminary testing and care. Her FNPs and nurses make many mistakes with medications administration during hospital stays and with medications lists and doctor's orders upon discharge from the hospital. Her office staff are poorly trained, incredibly unprofessional and rude. They routinely give out false information and are dangerously unreliable. They very often close early for lunch (30 minutes or more) and for the day (an hour or more), unannounced. They play dumb and refuse to take responsibility for their numerous errors. This office and practice could not exist in a large city where… there would be competition, because patients would demand a higher level of care: respectfulness, efficiency, reliability, competence, etc.
