Dr. Andrea Vandeven, MD

Dr. Andrea M. VanDeven is an attending physician in the Department of Anesthesiology, Critical Care and Pain Medicine at Boston Children’s Hospital and an instructor of pediatrics at Harvard Medical School. Board certified in both pediatrics and child abuse pediatrics, she specializes in child protection, child maltreatment evaluation, pediatric pain medicine, and general pediatrics. Dr. VanDeven earned her medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine and completed her pediatric training at Boston Children’s Hospital. Throughout her career, she has been actively involved in clinical care, education, and research related to child abuse prevention, recognition, and advocacy, with numerous publications focused on child maltreatment, sexual abuse evaluation, shaken baby syndrome, and pediatric safety. She is also affiliated with programs including the Child Protection Program, Chronic Pain Clinic, and Pediatric Diagnostic Program, where she works collaboratively to …support vulnerable children and families through comprehensive, multidisciplinary care.
