Dr. Andreas M Kogelnik, MD

I've never met a smarter doctor, and I've met a lot. Plus, Dr. K combines all that intelligence with approachableness.

The office is chaotic and poorly run. Everyone is pleasant, but it is beyond frustrating trying to deal with them. I received a copy of my records after I fired him since I refuse to go to a doctor's office so poorly run and right in the middle of my record (I only saw the doctor once) was a bunch of information about a drug I had never taken that he said I had been on for months. It stated that my KC Function test was consistently below 20 when I have NEVER had a KC Function test. The two drugs he did discuss with me were not even mentioned in my records. On top of that, once I requested my records, I had to threaten to go to the California Medical Board because they would not send my records in the 30 days that is provided by law. Again, I only saw him once, the records are all of about 3 pages long yet they couldn't fax it? On top of this being the most frustrating experience I have ever had with a doctor in 50 years of life, I have ME/CFS and do not live near Dr.… Kogelnik yet he insisted I fly to see him the first visit. I did what he asked because we don't have specialists where I live. The trip made me so much worse, which could have been worth it if he had treated me. But he did nothing for me other than add stress and anxiety.

Dr. Kogelnik is impressive in every way. He has a commanding knowledge of ME/CFS and understands the complexity of the disease. After four years of struggling to an find answer, I believe I was properly diagnosed and I am finally at the source of my issue, thanks to Dr. Kogelnik. Equally impressive to his intelligence is his emotional understanding of this disease. He is compassionate and passionate about each patient and their fight. You can see his determination to solve the mystery of ME/CFS and I am so thankful to have a doctor such as this working tirelessly for the cause of this highly debated disease. I know his research will prove significant findings to the cure of this disease.

Dr. Kogelnik has been professional courteous and very skilled in dealing with my 15 year old daughter's illness. We continue to struggle with finding a solution, but I cannot imagine a Dr. being more knowledgable, clear and compassionate. He has explained complicated specifics of the nature of the illness, as much as he understands at every step. He tells us what research there is, what is conjecture based on what clinical experiences he and his colleagues have had. He has followed up, despite being involved in national conferences on ME. He has my complete confidence.

He is compassionate, thorough and brilliant. Did very comprehensive testing. Arranged for hospitalization when necessary during my visit from out of town. His staff and infusion suites and incredible. I am proud to call him my doctor.

I flew to CA for an appt with dr kogelnik. I felt very good about the visit but then no one contacted me afterwards with blood test results and treatment recommendation. I had to contact them for copies of the test results and then Dr Kogelnik still did not email as promised to give his interpretation & recommendation. I had to contact the office again and then the dr sent a very brief and incomplete email. I then called to ask if I could set up a phone consultation--pretty well. Later though, when I was ready to start the medication, I used the email address I was given to contact the dr. I wanted to ask a couple questions and then get the prescription. The email was never answered so I called the office a couple weeks later. They said he would respond within a couple days. I still got no response until over a week later when the office contacted me to get the pharmacy #. There has been no mention at all about the blood tests I was told I would have to get every three weeks… while on the meds (learned this during the phone consult).

Dr. Kogelnick treats my 18 year old daughter, for viral induced CFS. This is his area of specialization The results so far are mixed, but I am convinced he is the best Dr. for the job. This is a difficult and complicated problem, and he is not only careful and complete in diagnosis, he is very clear about what he thinks is happening, and what his opinions are based on.
