Dr. Andres Joseph Guillermo, MD

Dr. Guillermo is an excellent physician. He cares about his patients and goes out of his way to ensure they're assessed correctly and have the medical care that they need. His staff is professional, caring, courteous and dedicated to their patients.

I've been to personally and have taken my kids to Dr. Guillermo on numerous occasions. The majority of our visits resulted in being sent to another Dr. even for simple things like wart removal. After the 'nurse' attempted to freeze the warts (numerous visits, copays and charging the insurance) we were referred to another Dr. to remove them. I've visited other General Practitioners who would lance off the wart themselves. (it was not in an unsafe location on the patients body) Other times blood work was needed, and we had to go to the hospital as an outpatient just to have a small amount of blood drawn. Once the test results were in, Dr. Guillermo required us to come back into the office, charged another office visit, to give us 'normal' results. In order to get a referral to the Gynecologist for a routine pap, or mammogram, Dr. Guillermo requires you to schedule an office visit. Again having to sit in his waiting room for over an hour, and be charged a copay, and my ins. company to… pay for an office visit, simply to ask for a referral for a yearly pap. These are the causes for high ins. premuims. When asking the office manager to put in a referral without a Dr. visit, it was explained that our ins. company requires an office visit. When I mentioned that the focus was on money instead of the patient the office manager became rude. I contacted my ins. company and confirmed that they do NOT require any such thing, and that can be a requirement of the Dr. but is not a requirement of the ins. company. I plan to find another Dr.

Unfortunately, I did not even have a chance to see this Doctor! I submitted all the papers long time ago. But today I called and asked for an appointment because I've caught a cold. Even though, they had openings on a requested day they refused to sign me for an appointment just because I am a new patient. The clerk told me that if I am sick I should go to emergency care! Well thanks a lot! I will never call Dr. Guillermo office again.

I have been with Dr Guillermo since he came to DeRidder, and they are very good at working with the patients. i have a strange schedule, and they always accommodate me according to my schedule. we also confer with each other, as he is curious of my schedule and work habits, and the effect they have on my health. i plan on staying with him as long as he will have me as a patient.
