Dr. Andrew Michael Abarbanel, MD

Dr A is a humanitarian and a man of high intelligence and compassion. He made me feel as if I was a friend as well as a patient and not a lab monkey to be poked and prodded and sent away when done. Quite the opposite. He took the time to listen to my story and my complaints and he reasoned and made goid arguments supporting both sides of my issues. I didnt know what to tbink as this made me a little miffed but I could see he was just trying to level the playing field and get me to see things from a different viewpoint. That impressed me as did his calm and very professional yet comforting manner. He is soft spoken and calm yet direct and very good at getting around opinion and getting to the heart of the matter. His diagnosis and his treatment and prescribed medication improved my life profoundly. Thank you Dr. A you are a great doctor.

He wants to helpyou feel better, and get better.He always asks questions that make me think more clearly, he is very insightful. He is the only psychiarist I've seen, and boy did I need one. Like a long time ago. Still better late than never !My thinking is getting clearer with meds and counseling with him.He made himself available and he truly cares.I also think that he understands people better than most.

like a previous reviewer, I hesitated to review this doctor because he is so vindictive. He spent almost all our sessions discussing his own issues, only at the time he claimed is was his wife who had donated a portion of her liver to their daughter. He actually gave about five minutes per session to me, then wrote another unnecessary Rx. When I finally expressed my concern about his behavior, I received a snail mail telling me to go find another doctor. I event to my internist, who promptly hospitalized me due to the dangerous levels of medication in my bloodstream. I reported this "doctor" to his licensing board, and he was forced to review his patient practices. I see that, unfortunately, this did nothing to change him. I wonder how much more damage he will inflict before he is stopped.

Dr. Abarbanel has been my doctor for years, he is always kind and insightful. I would highly recommend him if you are struggling with mental issues. He is willing to work with you, not just prescribe. Dr. Abarbanel was my doctor for three years. He DID provide my husband and I with whatever scripts we wanted even though we are admitted, hard core drug addicts. I believe he cares about me which is nice at the end of the day and he did do some extraordinary things for me. However, he made a huge mistake in my treatment that determined what the second half of my life would be like. Everyone agreed with him because he is a "Doctor" (family, friends, etc.). I believe that in agreeing to oversee my atercare he took on way more than he could knowingly handle and in the end, he didn't know what to do either. I would expect a highly educated doctor to exercise better judgement and decision making.

Dr. Abarbanel is one of the best. He knows his field, he is kind and patient and accessible.

Dr. Abarbanel is the best psychiatrist I have ever been treated by. He is caring, understanding, and allows me to participate in my treatment, medication choices and therapy. He is incredibly intelligent, thorough and professional.
