Dr. Andrew Ames, MD

While I felt that my wait to be seen in the ER was far too long given that I was in excruciating pain, Dr. Ames was attentive and did fantastic work. At follow-up, my own doctor even commented on how Dr. Ames had done exceptionally well. I was pleased with his care. He was kind and professional.

I'm used to getting great treatment at Newton Wellesley. Not this time. This doctor seemed unsure, uninterested and bored when I explained my health issues. I left and went to another ER and got professional treatment. An MD should be able to tell you more than you "probably have the flu."

He barely peeked in tot see me. He was goofy and didn't bother to explain anything and just sent me home. He was trying to shuffle through too many patients and didn't pay attention to me. The nurse apologized and said he wasnt the best doctor there and if I return she told me a good doctor would be on the next day and to ask for him. Pathetic! Poor representative for Newton-Wellesley ER. I won't be sending anymore donations!

I went to NWH ER a few days ago. I was very sick with what I thought was the flu. After c xray confirmed pneumonia. I was on day 12 of being ill. Not eating and drinking little, vomiting on and off. I had to ask for IV fluids, Dr Ames said it wouldn't do much but maybe make me feel better. Ummmm, yes I would like to feel better. After a while with IV, the nurse comes and gives me 3 antibiotic pills..... I thought they were in the IV. When they said i was being released, I told them I felt worse,. As soon as I got in the car I vomited and continued for the ride home. My husband called when we got home and Dr Ames said you can bring her back for IV with antibiotics. No apology. The nurse was cold as ice as well.
