Dr. Andrew Garrison Ayars, MD

Seems rather brilliant, deals with the rare immune stuff that isn't typical allergy territory. Takes time to answer my questions. Spent a ton of time arguing with my insurance to get me the care I need. My mom says he wears nice sweaters.

I began seeing Dr. Ayars over 6 yrs ago. It was great. He was very nice, good bedside manner, and he ordered the IvIg infusion for me I so desperately needed and had been without for 2 yrs. Over the yrs I began to think of him as a surrogate son and gave him baby gifts when his babies were born and was sympathetic when his grandpa died. Over the past 2 yrs, however, he's gone from Dr. Jekyll to Mr. Hyde. He started complaining that UW won't hire any help for them and started yelling at me every time I needed to change facilities where I receive IvIg because no patient should be forced to return to facilities who are abusive & disrespectful to them but he kept berating me and blaming me for it and all because he said Steve in his office is the only one trained to send faxes to facilities and Steve is overworked, yadda, yadda, yadda. I was very patient about it for a long time, but it just kept getting worse to the point where he was calling me and yelling at me and sending eCare msgs… were being ignored for weeks even when I was sick and never responded to, so I had no choice to complaint to UW Patient Relations which aren't much help either. After that he basically threw me under the bus to UW and know is lying to UW about things he's said to me. I am just devastated over this and now have to find a new immunologist again. I've never been anything but kind to him. I'm an old lady with a failing immune system and I fail to understand why he's taking everything out on me when I've never been anything but kind to him. I used to highly recommend him, but I can no longer do so. I feel like I've lost a surrogate son.
