Dr. Andrew John Campbell, MD

I was referred to Dr. Campbell from a place with outstanding customer service, so my expectations were already high. I trusted my daughter's orthodontist and although we had a bumpy first consultation with Dr. Cambell, I decided (after talking with a friend who had previously worked with Dr. Campbell), i would keep the course. The day of surgery arrived and my daughter was extremely nervous. I informed the tech going over the post op instructions with us and she said, "Let me get through this first" (her discharge instructions). Afterwards, she asked my daughter what grade she was in and tried to distract her with the TV. No consoling or letting her know she will be fine or that the doctor was a great doctor and that she was in good hands. Then Dr. Cambell comes in with his assistant. He pokes his head in sees it's me and walks in. I tell him my daughter is extremely nervous. He tries to placate the situation with a pat on her shoulder. Then he says something like "you'll be fine." He… even stated during the very brief conversation,, "if you don't hate me yet, you will." He then anxiously moves onto finding a vein which he then announces "You have a big fat one here" and then proceeds to get the iIV while my daughter is weeping. He then says "see it wasn't that bad" what really put me off is that she is crying and in Distress and he immediately puts her out with the meds. No warning her, no consoling, or anything and while my heart is tearing into pieces the assistant says "she is going to wake up crying because she went down crying" i was just dumbfounded and he says "yeah, it's pretty hard to watch them go out" I then get asked to leave and I just silently cry in the lobby thinking what just happened? Mommy guilt and regret set in. I then get told to meet my daughter at the car about 30 to 45 mins later. I wad expecting to meet her in the room. I can only assume they didn't want the other patients hearing her cry. The assistant wheels her out through the side door and my daughter is sobbing uncontrollably. The assistant says "see, I told you she would be like this " then she tells my daughter to stand up because she is pregnant and she can't lift her. She then states,, why are you crying,, you wasn't like this in the room,, slow your breathing down." My daughter was not really coherent. I asked her to squeeze my hands and she initially didn't. I could tell the assistant was annoyed and that she needed to get back in. I had noticed there were three others waiting to get the procedure done while I was in the waiting area.. get em in and out is the feeling I was left with. I said, I don't think she is ready... We sat out there for a few minutes as I was trying to get my daughter to wake up from the sedation through talking to her and getting her to focus on me...until the assistant had enough and put her arm under my daughter's arm and was hoisting her up saying "come on, you need to lock uour knees when your up" as my daughter's knees wobbled in and out of locked vs not. Then I get under my daughter's other arm afraid she would fall or the pregnant assistant would hurt herself. We get her in the car through a very narrow area as there was another car parked quite close to me. Mind you, my daughter is crying hysterically and hyperventilating the entire time. The assistant takes off. I am there with a hysterically crying daughter with tears in my eyes. I am trying my best to keep it together and really considering taking her to the ER since this place cared not that it was my daughter's first surgery, she is crying hysterically, and mama is stressed and crying. On top of that,, how safe is it to drive in this moment?? I don't know how I made it home. It was 20 minutes of torture to try and drive while you watch your child cry hysterically and hyperventilate. I get her in the recliner and notice a big light green bruise on her left cheek the size of a fat thumb.. I look it up and from the reading, bruising can be a result from the procedure... I am a nurse but when your child is in this much Distress, my nurse brain left me. I have seen many patients wake up from major surgery and this was a first for me... and it wasn't major surgery. On top of that, I was not told what happened if it went smooth, if one side was harder to remove than the other. No follow up call in the evening. Just crickets. One side of my daughter's face is considerably more tender, bruised, and swollen than the other. It would be nice to know why. I have one suggestion for your practice, learn to be present, more patient, more observant, more compassionate.. I get you need to get through all your cases of teeth extractions and procedures but the way you made my daughter feel and myself, I will never refer anyone to your practice if there is a remote chance that they will be treated the same way we were. She remembers everything you said and she didn't feel like you all cared. That should leave an impression on you. Did the teeth come out? Yes. Was it fast? Yes. Did you leave a negative and scarring impression on my child regarding surgery and dentistry? Absolutely ?? yes

Dr. Campbell appeared unpleasant and unwilling to introduce himself to me soon as he walked into my room. I had to extend my hand out to him in order for him to shake it. I was referred to him by another dentist who instructed me that I had a cyst in my gums that needed to be removed ASAP. Dr. Campbell insisted that it was nothing and I was being paranoid. I agreed that I was concerned and feared losing my teeth. Once I stated that, he did not seem to thrilled with my answer of proceeding with the biopsy. He had one of his assistance come back in the exam room and tried to deter me from having the biopsy by asking me 3 tines if I was sure that I wanted to have to procedure because my insurance would not cover it and I would have to pay 1,177.20 as if I do not have an income or money in the bank. I was very insulted and will NEVER return to his office again. He made it very clear to me that my service was not needed nor welcome there and I thank God that he did because I would not want… a inconsiderate, arrogant piece of trash to touch any part of my body or receive a dime of my hard earn money.
