Dr. Andrew Rising Carey, MD

I appreciated my visit with Dr. Carey. He greeted me with a big bright hello and wave as he entered the room, which put me at ease. He is very thorough and took his time to answer all of my questions. Highly recommend him.

I have been seeing Dr Carey for TED for a few years, he's very knowledgeable and always answers emails promptly. I would highly recommend him. He's very up to date on the newest TED therapeutics as well, like TEPEZZA.

I just left Dr. Carey’s Office after a eye examination for my 84 year old mother. I read one of the reviews below in disbelief and had to respond. My mothers English is not great. I always sit in the examining room with her for that very reason. The Dr. Carey I met was nothing but kind and caring. My mothers examination lasted almost two hours bc Dr. Carey and his staff asked so many questions, taking several different eye exams, and making sure they explained everything in detail to me and my mother so we understood her situation. When we got home I told my mother I wanted to see his Bio and that’s when I saw the unfair review feeling I had to give a review based on our experience...We left feeling so relieved knowing Dr. Carey took good care of my mother that she cried saying, “I’ve never met a sweeter caring doctor like I have today.. and all the other doctors at Hopkins for that matter”. During a pandemic Dr. Carey was working hard to help my mother and apologized when having to… step out of the room for a few minutes to print up a list of vitamins and eye drops to buy over the counter. He was also concerned about her broken hip and gave us advice to make sure my mother doesn’t fall again... For all his devotion and hard work I had to give him an excellent rating bc our service was just that... Excellent!

Very poor bedside manner. Very dismissive and rude-- he was so mean to my mom, who was a patient with limited English, as she tried to explain her symptoms to him. He cut her off, was very dismissive, and did not provide any explanation or proper diagnosis. He rolled his eyes and sighed as she tried to talk to him. He did not answer any of her questions or allow her to even speak to him, or offer any kind of advice to ease her symptoms. Avoid him at all costs.

I have seen many neurologists and ophthalmologists, and no one was able to figure out what was causing my multiple eye problems, Dr. Carey took time with me and figured out the problem and we are working towards the solution!
