Dr. Andrew Chernick, MD

I was very nervous about having a colonoscopy. Being 67 and never having one was my fault. My family doctor always told me I needed one. I had a friend that ended up with colon cancer so I did it for her. Dr. Chernick put me at ease as well as the nurses at the Surgery Center. I never had the first problem. He ended up taking out 8 polyps. He was even surprised. I have two other friends that go to him and absolutely love him. I would recommend him to anyone.

Saw the doctor for five minutes ONCE. Was then fobbed off onto his PA. She strung me along on useless drugs for more than a year with no diagnostic tests at all. Come to find out I had two ulcers and Barrets esophagus which was finally treated by a surgeon in another city. This doctor and Genesis Healthcare in general have been useless. Avoid.

My Sister was non-responsive due to high ammonia levels. He said she was going to die, send her to hospice...nothing could be done. I got her transferred from Genesis to Ohio State that night and the very next day she was awake & talking. She lived another 6 weeks. He also was very cold and had no empathy. I had requested him as a specialist & 2nd opinion. I am sure he is probably very knowledge in all our areas in his field. Zanesville needs a Doctor who specializes in liver disease. Thank God for Ohio State!

I saw this doctor once to have my throat stretched and he called me at home the next day and started a campaign to get me to do a colonoscopy. I thought it quite inappropriate. I had a follow-up with his office a few months ago and they wanted me to have an ultra-sound for the same thing and the reason stated they could feel a malignant tumor. You cannot tell if something is malignant without a biopsy so now I won't seek any treatment anywhere.
