Dr. Andrew John Demaggio, MD

First off I know I was the one that swallowed the pills but was served them on a silver platter! Not just him but the whole pain management practice fueled a 10+ year addiction. After a misplaced internal injection I was prescribed OxyContin and percocets together. He continued to serve my addiction month after month with a recipe of disaster that resulted in my divorce and money troubles. It took me years to overcome my addiction that they/he fueled. I wish I knew if there was something I could do about it now because now in recovery I look back and I am angry how things turned out back then. I believe Dr. D was my first drug dealer.

Dr. Demaggio is a pain management specialist, and I was referred to him because I was in a great deal of pain, largely in my head and neck. Unfortunately for me, I was in my mid-20s and this was during the first wave of the heroin crisis. As a result, it was very clear that Demaggio assumed that I was shopping for painkillers. All I wanted was for the pain to stop. I cried every night from the agony of my headaches. I didn't care what cure it took. Neither did Demaggio. He gave me several treatments including spinal injections (a nightmarish experience) and Botox injections into my face and head. The latter remains the most painful procedure I've ever received. It provided no relief, but Demaggio insisted that it worked and wrote in his medical report that the procedure was successful. This made me suspicious. When these treatments failed to produce any results he literally said to me, "I'm out of ideas." I asked him, "What do you do to treat all of your other patients with… intense illnesses?." He lied and said, "I don't know." Of course he knew. That's his job. He runs the pain clinic. I saw many patients in their 70s and 80s in the waiting area each time I visited his clinic. What was he doing for them that he hid from me? I will never forgive this man for dismissing my severe pain and then ignoring me as if I were some junkie simply because I was a young man. When I told me primary doctor about this experience, she said, "Of course he thought you were pill shopping. You're young and a male." Any doctor with that attitude, I strongly believe, is unfit to cater to the patients that they discriminate against. In conclusion, Dr. Andrew Demaggio may be skilled in certain areas as his reputation suggests, and he's a friendly a likable fellow, but he is not trustworthy. He will evaluate the severity of your pain based on superficial characteristics. If you can find another pain specialist in the Pittsfield area who accepts your insurance I urge you to do so.

Very kind and gentle. I had very bad shoulder pain, Dr DeMaggio was the only doctor after many months of suffering that was able to help me.

I would recommend him to anyone. Very caring and takes his time with you. One of the only doctors that I have been to that has given me peace of mind. No matter how long the road is, he reassures you that we will work through it. I know how bad the pain would be if he hadn't stuck through it with me in finding a solution. Awesome awesome doctor. Wish there were more like him.

My experience with the Pain Center has always been a good one. The doctors are on time, the staff is very friendly and I have the most confidences in their work.

I love Dr Demaggio, I've been seeing him for about 15 years & won't change him for another pain specialist

Ive been with Dr. Demaggio for many yrs i think almost 14 with him but been in the pain center program for over 20 years, I love the Dr & staff, they listen to me & try to do their best to help me, thank you Dr Demaggio & Glenda Boynkin for letting me livey life in less pain

I have to suffer with pain since i was 20,now i am 34 my dr was treating this issue fine then decides to do alot shots,nerve blockers which made me sick.. New England pain center sends me paper work that they should have known about all these issues before i walk in door.. I ripped the paper in shreds.. I will suffer maybe die,but that is not concern to this health care system.. I went from 157 down a hundred pounds.. i went threw school trying to just get back to work and feal normal for in life.. My advice to your staff know about your patients before they walk in the door,not my faith or who i am.. life will go on i am done going to anymore Drs.. I have mental illness,but am aware of what i have that should not be your concern either,

Just visited him today for the first time, and was very impressed. Seems first rate.

New to the area. Have had chronic back pain and sciatica. Tried to get appt. Office staff not friendly or helpful. Gave me wrong info. I was told I had necessary reports forwarded to them and 10 days later I have to call and find out they were not enough (it was a full MRI report and a order from my doctor for an epidural)
