Dr. Duckett is a board-certified periodontist in Birmingham, Alabama.  He has practiced at our Southside location since joining Dr. Karen McCaffery in 1997.  The goal of Dr. Duckett's practice is for his patients to keep their natural teeth throughout their lives, in health and in comfort.  Dr. Duckett utilizes the latest technology and advances in periodontal medicine in order to achieve that goal.
Dr. Duckett is a native of Alabama, but spent his teenage years in Austin, Texas.  He is a summa cum laude graduate of Auburn University (1990).  During his undergraduate years, Dr. Duckett was the recipient of the Thomas Goode Jones and Yates merit scholarships.  He was a member of the Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society, Alpha Lambda Delta freshman honorary, and Beta Beta Beta Biology honorary.  He was involved with the Pre-Dental Society and Alpha Lambda Delta (health professions honorary).  He was listed on the Dean's Honor Roll each quarter.
Dr. Duckett …is also a graduate of the University of Alabama School of Dentistry.  He received his D.M.D. (1994) and his certificate of periodontics (1997) from that school.  While in dental school, Dr.Duckett was the recipient of the Alabama State Dental Association Scholarship, the William Kramer Award for most outstanding junior, the Leon Schneyer Award for top student in basic sciences, and the Alpha Omega Award for graduating first in his class.  Upon graduation, Dr. Duckett was inducted into Alpha Kappa Omicron, the national dental honor society.
Dr. Duckett is currently involved in many professional associatoins.  He is a member of the American Dental Association and the American Academy of Periodontology.  He is also a member of the Alabama Dental Association and the Birmingham District Dental society, having served on various committees in those organizations.  Dr. Duckett is currently on the executive committee for the Southern Academy of Periodontology, and he is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology.
In his time away from the office and periodontics, Dr. Duckett is a proud husband and father.  Weekends and leisure time are often filled  with kids' activities.  However, Dr. Duckett also enjoys golf. Auburn athletics, and he is a member of the Master's swim club of the Birmingham Swim League.
