Summary

Dr. Germanovich received his undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences and Germanic studies with honors in 2001, his master’s degree in Physiology and Biophysics in 2003 from University of Illinois and his medical degree from Midwestern University in 2008.
In addition to his traditional medical education, Dr. Germanovich studied osteopathic manual treatment techniques which he currently utilizes in his practice. His anestesiology residency was completed at Advocate IMMC where he served as a chief resident, learned unique ultrasound and computed tomography – guided interventional techniques and participated in numerous studies in areas of pain medicine and anesthesiology.
Dr. Germanovich completed a fellowship in interventional pain management medicine at the “Best in the West” fellowship program at the University of California Los Angeles. There he learned a wide variety of interventional techniques for the treatment of facial pain, headaches, cancer pain, neck and back pain, CRPS I and II, pancreatic pain, arthritic joint and spine pain, pain due to disorders of nerves (shingles, diabetic neuropathy, radiculopathy), muscles and vertebral compression fractures.
His particular areas of interest are postural biomechanics and musculoskeletal pain due to short leg syndrome, psoas syndrome and chest wall pain due to slipped rib syndrome. He is an active member of the American Board of Anesthesiology, the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, the American Society of Regional Anesthesia, American Osteopathic Association, World Institute of Pain, and the North American Neuromodulation Society.
Dr. Germanovich is very hands-on in his approach to diagnosis and treatment of pain conditions. His philosophy is that a thorough physical exam is crucial for any treatment to be successful.
He uses a multi-modal treatment approach for every patient starting with supplements, therapeutic exercises, manual manipulation, and heel lifts. If basic treatments fail or are intolerable, Dr. Germanovich utilizes latest medications in combination with high-end spine, joint, muscle and nerve injections with Synvisc, steroids, Botox or stem cells. For complex clinical pain syndromes he implants spinal cord stimulation and intrathecal drug delivery systems.
