Dr. Andrew Janusz Hanzlik, MD

After interviewing Dr Hanzlik for cataract surgery, I was impressed by his friendly manner and knowledge. Because I was impressed, I let him talk me into upgrading my single lenses that Medicare pays to $4000 trifocal lens that I had to pay out of pocketI am 75 and needed better eyesight to find a job. This operation wiped out my savings but to have the promised results I felt it was worth it. However, the results have left me with more problems than solutions. The first eye went ok and after a week I went back to have the second eye done. For me, there were red flags as soon as I walked into the surgery waiting room. It was stuffed with more people than should be in there. In fact, a patient who had waited over two hours was arguing with the rude staff. There was yelling. I now understand because I waited several hours before I was let in to prep. It was a rushed operation. Everyone including several nurses were upset about the crowding and rushed surgeries. It was just plain awful.… In the end, the second lens is not right. This could be due to Dr Hanzilk rushing due to the backup of patients or the implanted lens was faulty. After over a month, even though the first lens is ok, the second lens is throwing my sight off. It is blurry and I constantly see a mass of black dots. There is a constant battle in my brain deciding which eye to favor. It leaves me exhausted and depressed. Yesterday I finally had an appointment and his answer to all this was to come back and see him in 6 months. He also suggested I will need reading glasses. Up sale me to $4k lenses and I still have to wear glasses? When I explained that because both eyes have different issues, glasses are not a possibility. He did not answer. When I complained about the issues with the second lens he responded back that I hadn't even paid his bill yet. However, I had paid $3200 of the $4000 it all cost me. I held back $800 until I was given answers to this situation. I have a terrible feeling that I am stuck with this issue and may not be able to repair the damage. Update: Due to what I consider criminal activity under Fla Stat. 817.5695 Deception to induce a person over 65(I am 75), I am filing a complaint with FMA and possibly local authorities.

He is a wonderful doctor. I have been his patient for the last 16 yrs. He was also my father's doctor. Great surgeon. Very personable. Takes the time to fully explain my diagnosis, etc. I referred many satisfied people to him.

Negligent, no consideration for the patient. Did my eyelid surgery in the office, promised it wouldn't hurt. He lied to me, the pain was almost unbearable. He traveled abroad right after a,nd a nurse was who removed the stitches. He didn't see me. I was disfigured for over a month, had no post surgery assistance. My allergist doctor was who prescribed a cream to improve the swelling. Dr. Hanzlik only saw me after 3 months, when I waited 3 hours to see him. I said the surgery had left me with a lump in the left eye and little fat bags, that I didn't have before, in both eyes, which he didn't reply and told me to come back in 3 months. When I came back, expecting to resolve my issues, a nurse saw me and said that he was not in the office. I walked out and never came back.

Great doc. Totally knowledgeable. Explains proceedure s and makes comfort a priority. Did my cataract surgery when I was told it couldn't be done because of prior surgery. Is a perfectionist and makes all patients comfortable by his ready smile and care. His staff is well informed and always pleasant.

On occasions when he shows up expect at least a 2 hour wait. Most important part of a job- SHOW UP !

Excellent Doctor. Sometimes there is a wait, but that's the only disadvantage. Great expertise, patient treatment, excellent care. I strongly recommend him. I've been with him for years!

I went to dr hanzlik to have catarac surgery on my right eye. He did a good job on that. Then afyer healing I went in for a new prescription for glasses. The young kid who did the exam was horrible. I am not even sure if he was an optician. He badly screwed up my eye exam and I spent $186.00 at the VA for sun glasses. They were terrible. I went back to hanzlik and he did the exam and said the kid did it fine. He did not. I asked hanzjlk if he was going to reimburse me for the cost of the worthless glasses and he said no, not his problem. I went to a real optometrist and got a recheck taming my prescriptions from hanzilk and his boy wonder and he said the prescription was way off. He gave me a new prescription and after paying another $186.00 have a great pair of glasses. This guy might be good for cataract surgery but I would go to a different Doctor to get your eyes checked. I rate this clown 1 for the surgery with 1 being excellent and a 10 the lowest I can say for his optician,… billing, and customer service. There is none by him. Beware!

My husband and I have been patients of Dr. Hanzlik for 13 years. He is a good listener, cares about your overall health, and very knowledgeable. We refer all of our friends to him. He helped one of our friends whose eye he saved following a botched procedure by another doctor.

Dr Hanzlik Has helped my self and my husband over the years with our eye problems.. I have had Shingles in the left eye twice now in the past few years.. Very Painful condition and he helped me thru it .. He checked on me very carefully and made sure things were ok before dismissing me .. I trust him completely with my eyes and have seem great results and much improvement in all situations.. For my part he is the best in Florida .. I plan to keep him as my Dr..
