Dr. Andrew Kaplan

Dr. Kaplan treats people with any symptoms beyond mild anxiety like animals. When I was seeing him a few years ago I opened up about the voices and intrusive thoughts I was experiencing which were occasionally commanding me to do violent things, as they were understandably making me quite upset. He didn't provide any reasonable advice and we ended the meeting a little later. Two whole days after he called my parents through the hospital to get them to bring me in for some generic tests. My parents had as little clue as I did about what was going on as I was placed in the emergency room with an armed guard, with the plan being to ship me off involuntarily to the psych ward. Even though it only took one visit from the doctor to determine me perfectly fit to leave it still took 3 hours as this happened a few months after the peak of COVID. I only had one more meeting with him where he spent the whole time defending his actions and deriding me while I sat there. I went to a different… psychiatrist after this who was amazing and actually cared about helping me get medication to mitigate my symptoms and begin my gender transition (the original reason I had gone to Kaplan and the thing he never cared about addressing, always saying we would talk about it next meeting). In addition, he almost never arrived earlier than 15-20 minutes after the scheduled time for online visits, I have not had this issue with any other medical professional. If you have anything beyond ADD or mild depression seek caution and people with anything more serious should avoid him at all costs, notably gender dysphoria as he will waste all of your time and money.
