If you wish to loose your faith in humanity, look no further than the UAB Medicine clinic at Inverness. Dr. land was not available so I saw nurse practitioner Ellen Pantazis that day. I had just found out I was pregnant and had a health concern. Instead of telling me over the phone to talk to my OB/GYN about it, they had me come in instead, only to tell me to address it with the OB/GYN. On top of having to pay for the visit and wasting time unnecessarily, the worst was how I was treated during the entire visit. So, here you have a patient who has just found out she is pregnant, she has a health concern and is trying to keep her pregnancy healthy while at the same time addressing a health issue and having to function at her job and daily activities. And what do you do as a nurse practitioner trained (I assume) to deal with these situations? I don't think I have ever had a more chilling experience with a provider. The NP was cold as ice, I wasn't sure I was even dealing with a human… being. NP Ellen was not able to relate to me any point or put me at ease, nor was she willing to explain my options or paint a road map of what we can do. Instead she kept asking a bunch of unnecessary questions, question after question, without any explanation or bedside manner. Instead of being helped, I felt interrogated, my answers questioned. I finally got a promise to some answers only after pushing and asking for something to be done. When I thanked her and got ready to leave I could see her roll her eyes as I was walking out of the room. Horrible. It took me a couple of days to get over it. I thought UAB trained their staff to "Always Care", treat your patients "the way you want to be treated". So much for that.. I only wish that my very first experience at the doctor's office with my pregnancy was a happy one, as it should be. I hope this review raises some awareness and will try to replace this bad memory with many happy ones appropriate for such a happy event.

Very first time there, I got billed incorrectly no one would help remedy the situation. Copied the Dr. on the email and got no help after a two months.
