Dr. Andrew H Lane, MD

We went to Dr. Lane because I'm in the medical field and knew from colleagues that he is extremely knowledgable and experienced. When we had our appointment, he exceeded my, already high, expectations. He was thorough and meticulous. He took the time to get a full understanding of my children. He made them feel so comfortable. He was patient with us and gave us all of the information we needed, answering all of our questions. He even set aside time to allow the children to ask questions. So happy I chose him to take care of my kids!

The lady at front desk is so rude. She lacks empathy and because of her I decided to switch doctors. Plus getting an appointment takes months and when you finally do get an appointment it takes forever to be seen.

came to see dr. Lane after my daughters blood work came out a little concerning. we waited 15-20 minutes before getting into a room, but we didn't mind waiting. dr. Lane came in and introduced himself to my daughter and I. After explaining some possible symptoms of the possible condition and running a few physical tests, he then moved on to his concerns about my daughters' weight affecting the condition. he then proceed to looking at the BMI chart (which was proven not effective because it only measures height, weight, and age) and told me my daughter was in the "overweight" category. this made my daughter very upset because she has always struggled with being self-conscious about her weight, for she is not the skinniest 15-year-old girl, nor the biggest. he then told my daughter that her weight number "doesn't seem right". I took it as a compliment, but my daughter did not. It confused my daughter even more, because she doesn’t see herself as “fat” or “overweight”. On the way… home, she barely said a word to me and didn’t want to talk to anybody when she got home. She then became very depressed (in a way I have never seen her before--she has never struggled with depression before). If dr. lane had said it nicer, my daughter wouldn’t have been as upset. Thankfully, she overcame her depression the next day at school and realized she will not listen to a doctor who is not a nutritionist, but is a pediatrician for much younger kids. I hope my daughter will never have to go through this again with a doctor like dr. lane.

I've been a patient of Dr.Lane since I found out about my thyroid disease when I was 14, he's very nice, polite, good listener and very patient. He always asks me how's school and how everything is going. When my sister was also discover with thyroid disease I had no doubt in taking her there also she's deaf and he's so patient with her, he's very respectful and professional... It's always a pleasure to go back there!!! :)

We see Dr. Lane for my son's adrenal insufficiency. My son was born at the hospital and has been seeing Dr. Lane since birth. Stony Brook is a teaching hospital. Every appt a fellow comes in to talk to us and finds out what's going on with the patient and if there are any concerns. This is fine by me. A Dr. has to learn somewhere. Then the fellow reports to Dr. Lane who then comes with the fellow to discuss any concerns you may have. I like that he and his staff will double check any vitals that the nurse may have taken. This info is vital when deciding dosage of medication. There once was a considerable difference I am thankful they caught it. He spends a considerable amount of time with you. No matter how many questions you may have or even if you don't understand something. You never feel rushed. So I'm sure this is why there is a wait beyond your appointment time. This is the only reason why I am ok with the wait. The only problem I ever had was not getting blood work done in… time which you need so the appt was cancelled. Couldn't get another appt for months which ended up just being the next time my son would see him. I never forgot again! There is one staff member of the Dept. Ann(secretary) who always goes over and beyond. Or maybe its just called "doing the job" I haven't spoken to her recently so I wonder if she is still there. She is so nice and calls you back promptly with all the information you need and maybe more you weren't aware of. Recently I have had issues with a bit of attitude from voices that didn't sound familiar to me. You feel comforted when you have a staff member who is familiar with a patient. Overall I think Dr. Lane is a great endocrinologist. I would personally give him 4stars.
