Summary
My name is Dr. Andrew Leavitt, and I sincerely look forward to meeting you. Let me tell you a little about myself.
I grew up in a small farming community (Kuna) near Boise, Idaho. The second of nine children, I learned early the value of hard work while helping my father and mother run their 80-acre farm. Having a father who was a high school counselor and a mother who is an elementary teacher also taught me the importance of receiving a good education.
I received an academic scholarship to Brigham Young University, graduating with a degree in Zoology. I then attended the University of Washington School of Dentistry, graduating with honors and receiving my Doctor of Dental Science (DDS) degree.
The following two years were also spent at the University of Washington, receiving specialized training in orthodontics. This program consisted of additional academic education in the areas of orofacial biology, anatomy, embryology, and craniofacial growth and anomalies, as well as clinical …training in all areas of orthodontic theory and practice. I also worked to complete a Masters Thesis during this time and received a Master of Science in Dentistry along with the Certificate of Orthodontics.
I believe strongly in being a part of the greater dental community, interdisciplinary care with general dentists and other specialists, and continuing dental education. I am a member of the local and national components of both the dental and orthodontic societies. I also belong to two orthodontic study clubs and one “interdisciplinary†study club with other specialists and general dentists. I far exceed the state requirements for the amount of continuing education each year for dentists.
I live in Yelm with my wife, Danae, and our four children, as well as several dogs, cats and horses. I love spending time with my family, whether it’s just hanging out at home watching movies, or enjoying the great Northwest outdoors by camping, hiking, biking, and skiing.
I love working with children, teens and adults to help in creating beautiful smiles. I want to assure you that my team and I are committed to listen to you and assist in your overall dental care. We look forward to getting to know you better.
