Dr. MacKenzie received his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame and his medical degree from the State University of New York Health Sciences Center at Brooklyn. He served as an intern, resident and chief resident in obstetrics and gynecology at Winthrop-University Hospital, Mineola, N.Y., and a fellow in maternal-fetal medicine and administrative chief for fellows at the New York University School of Medicine.
A diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. MacKenzie is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology as well as maternal-fetal medicine. He is a member of the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine, American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology and American Medical Association. He is the co-author of six chapters in medical references as well as 13 articles and 18 abstracts in professional …journals.
Dr. MacKenzie most recently served as Director of Ultrasound at Madonna Perinatal Services, Mineola, N.Y., and Co-Director of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Mercy Medical Center, Rockville Center, N.Y. He has been recognized by the Council on Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology for teaching, and most recently received the Outstanding Attending of the Year Award for 2007-2008 from the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Winthrop-University Hospital.
Dr. MacKenzie's interests include ultrasound, invasive fetal therapy, multi-fetal gestation, thrombophilias, and issues of premature delivery. He is skilled in 3D/4D ultrasound, and performs a multitude of invasive procedures including amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling, percutaneous umbilical blood sampling with fetal transfusions, and various fetal stent placements.
At Saint Francis, Dr. MacKenzie is the Director of Maternal-Fetal Medicine and a member of the Saint Francis Medical Group. He also holds an appointment at the University of Connecticut as an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
