Dr. Andrew Bennett Mcgill, MD

DO NOT go here! I went to see Andrew McGill as a preemptive attempt to control my anxiety after receiving some bad health news about my Mother. I have been diagnosed and treated for Bipolar 2 Disorder with Generalized Anxiety for over 15 years. I have been prescribed and taken anxiety medication for over 10 years as part of my treatment. I have also had my medical marijuana card for over 10 years for other reasons. My previous psychiatrist had retired a few years prior. I had been managing my medications through my primary care doctor but with the news of my Mother I knew I needed to be back under the care of a psychiatrist. While meeting with Mr. McGill I was very honest about my marijuana use. He said because I use marijuana he would not be able to continue to prescribe my anxiety medication. Again, I have taken this consistently for over 10 years. He decided to take me off of it anyway because of whatever beliefs he has. Now I am spiraling into horrible anxiety. Back to having panic… attacks, in a complete nightmare. He wants to put me on everything but what works. So now I’m back doing trial and error with medications when I already know what works. This does not seem like someone who has their patients best interest at heart. He also wanted to take me off my antipsychotic and antidepressant that have been working for over 10 years and put me on something else. Why would he want to do that to a completely balanced patient? Please be very cautious before going to this mental health professional. Just don’t! He thinks he knows best instead of actually listening to his patients an doing what’s best for them!
