Dr. Andrew David Mccollum, MD

So sad - we really needed a great oncologist - we thought we had one. Dr. Mccollum was great about telling us when he was unavailable, on the ski slopes and not on call. What he never managed to tell us what our treatment plan was, results our tests. The other physicians tried to help and they were so good about talking to us answering questions, just being nice to us. Dr. Mccollum was always one foot out the door. I am sure he is smart but he is not a healthprovider. His staff is nice and tries to be responsive but they are so overwhelmed. Go anywhere but Dr. Mccollum if your cancer is serious or complicated. Go to UT Southwester, Go to MD Anderson - you will get better more compassionate care from your vet even. Dont expect anything from Dr. Mccollum or Texas Oncology

Dr. Mccollum has an impressive pedigree. DO NOT USE HIM OR TEXAS ONCOLOGY if you are sick with anything but the earliest,easiest cases of cancer, NOT a jetsetter or a VIP. You will know when he is not available, when he is not on call, where he skied, how the snow was, when his next vacation is planned but if you need to know your treatment plan, test results or need any ounce of compassion-you will need to go somewhere else. The other physicians understand what you are going through and will help you as much as they can-that is where we got all our information -from everyone BUT our oncologist. Cancer is painful, scary and complicated. If you or a loved one are experiencing cancer and you want a healthcare professional that is concerned about any aspect of care- go somewhere else. Use UT Southwester, MD Anderson, your vet - anyone else. Denise the callback nurse is nice but overwhelmed as she is the only point of contact. The scheduling ladies are nice but overwhelmed beyond belief. … It was heartbreaking situation made worse by a callous, no time for you physician.

Dr Mcollum came very highly recommended. And my visits with him have been ok at best. No positivity or encouragement whatsoever. The wait time is longer than acceptable most times. His staff is absolutely awful. They are so rude and so unhelpful. You can't call without feeling like an idiot because they are all so put out by the questions I'm asking. Let's face it, if you are going to see Doctor McCollum you are in bad shape. You are scared and full of anxiety and questions. You will find zero compassion here. From making appointments, questions about insurance, and reporting side effects to the nurse you will find you are not only battling cancer, but the fictitious "team" their commercials promise. Look for a doctor with some compassion. Talk to him about what they will do to help you between visits. You are fighting the battle of your lifetime and you need positive people around you to encourage and cheer you on!

Dr. McCullom is very punctual! We have been under his care for over 2 years and have never had to wait an excessive amount of time for an appointment. He is UTSouthwestern and Harvard-trained, and treats only colon cancer. You cannot get a more caring, competent and intelligent doctor to help you fight the big battle of your life than he. He is at the top of his game every day. We are a medical family, so we are very picky about our doctors. Texas Oncology is a big practice, but we have only had great experiences with all the staff as well as Dr. McCollum. Make your appointment with confidence. You will get the best of care here.

Dr. McCollum's staff is friendly and helpful. I've even had one of the nurse practitioners give me a hug. The doctor is open to all my questions and spends as much time as needed. He draws pictures of what's going on with my liver to help explain. It's obvious he's intelligent, knowledgable about his specialty and cares about his patients.
