RUDE DOCTOR AND STAFF. UNRESPONSIVE AND SLOW. DONT DIAGNOSE ANYTHING OR BOTHER TO REFER PATIENTS FOR ANYTHING.

Dr. Merritt appears "smart" (takes one to know one) but has very bad bedside manner - he often gets very insulted, easily irritated and crosses the line to being rude and insulting, condescending, quick to jump to a conclusion or diagnosis and appears to be "anti-testing", pro-keep cost-low-for-insurance-company, quick to write you off as a hypochondriac, his mannerisms response to questions/comments from patients have been received by me as condescending and insulting. He may actually tell you that he is the one that went to med school and not you and suggests to leave all the thinking to him please. He willoften dismiss your concerns/questions by pausing only to listen, but then often not even taking the time to humor you with an explicit, well thought out answer to even half of your concerns/questions. Usually more of a quick insult thrown your way even if you're both polite and smart. This coming from a patient that does his homework and wants logical, well thought out thorough… analysis and action-plans that meet the test of logic and don't leave you wondering, a doctor that listens well. His answers have often left me wondering if he gave me an answer, I'm left insulted since he only chooses to answer one out of perhaps 4 questions I might present to him and his answers are short and often ambiguous. You won't catch him nodding his head while you talk, just a blank, impatient stare while he waits for you to shut-up.Don't read up on your condition or symptoms in a book or on the internet and then ask him to consider your concerns or even to humor you. If I were a doctor those would be my favorite patients!! i think half of being a good doctor is being a good listener since a patient often gives lots of great clues as to what's wrong with them, it is their body after all. Don't go to him with the expectation that he will treat you with respect and dignity and will give you some benefit of the doubt if not humor you, because he will not. Sometimes that is good, often that is just WRONG.

We have been patients of Dr. Merritt's for 6 or 7 years, and he is terrific with all family members. Smart, up to date always, and caring. Recommend super highly.
