Dr. Andrew T Nathanson, MD

I had Dr Nathanson at Rhode Islans Hospital. Good guy. Was helpful and spent some time chatting. I hope I have him again if I’m ever have to go back to that pit.

Dr. Nathanson was so charming! He really made me feel taken care of. He sat down and answered all my questions. I'm 87 years old and have many medications I take and he went through all of them with me. Turns out my chest pain was not a heart attack and I was ok!

I had Dr. Nathanson for stomach pain and fever. He diagnosed me with apendicitus very quickly. Explained everything to me and got me to the surgeons. Didn't waste time, answered all my questions very well. I hope I get him again if I have to go to Rhode island hospital.

Never have I felt so little compassion from an ER Dr . He came in the room on the defensive with me , did he think I was drug seeking ? Faking ? I had been battling a a double kidney infection for weeks , oI did as instructed , if no change after 48hrs go directly to the hospital . He came in and started belittling me , saying my infection was nothing he would be alarmed about , he actually didn't believe me at first until he read the paperwork from a walk in treatment the previous week . After a few minutes with him I was in tears about the treatment by Dr Nathanson . He said just what do you expect , you've had a CT scan , no stones visible , you've been on two antibiotics , just what do you expect us to do ?! He also said he had never heard of dizziness and headache from kidney infection or mental fogginess . While examining my stomach area he told the nurse to document my whole pelvis hurt like its unusual for UTI , bladder and kidneys to hurt . Never offered any comfort measures… despite pain ,nausea,and chills . No blanket , IV fluids or a tylenol . Talk about insult to injury , I was crying my eyes out over his treatment . Dr Nathanson needs to stick with sailing ,sports and surf injuries because obviously kidneys aren't his forte . His PA couldn't apologize enough .

Told me I wasn't at high risk of having a heart attack despite having numerous risk factors. Describes Substance Abuse therapy as "Doing the Substance Abuse Thing." Needs classes in bedside manner and communication. RIH also terrible. Terrible experience overall.

This is the worst doctor out there. Unfortunate that he works in the hospital but if you ever have a choice of doctors, he is the rudest doctor. I have BN (Bronchial plexus neuritis) and my PCP gave me a pain medicine that caused me to go into a serotonin syndrome so I went to the ER and was seen by this doctor. First of all when I was talking to him he did not even look at me, as I talked he would just look at the TV. He did not even fully exam me before he said "I am not giving you a prescription for narcotics. OK, I never asked but... I was explaining the reaction that I got from the Nuycenta that my PCP gave me and within 2 min apparently this so called DR forgot what med I told him because he said back to me opana. I told him I never said that and again told him the medication name. Needless to say he said I should go home and continue taking my medication. This doctor sent me home to take a pain medicine that was making me hallucinate and hear things (as if I would have just… taken LSD) If there was a no star rating for this man I would give. I cant even call him a doctor because he surely didn't act like one. I would rather die than see this man ever again!!
