Education 
Dr. Schwartz attended Emory University for his undergraduate education, and dental school at the University of Pennsylvania's School of Dental Medicine, where he earned his Doctor of Medical Dentistry (DMD) degree.  He graduated there amongst the top of his class with multiple honors and publications.  After dental school, he stayed at the University of Pennsylvania for his residency and completed his specialty training in orthodontics.
Dr. Schwartz is especially proud of his board certification with the American Board of Orthodontics (ABO).  Becoming Board Certified is a step beyond what is required to be considered an orthodontic specialist.  Currently only about 30% of orthodontists are Board Certified.  At the time of his initial certification, he was one of the youngest doctors to achieve such an accomplishment.  In 2010, he became one of the first doctors to voluntarily re-certify with the ABO and …the very first orthodontist ever to successfully present an orthodontic case treated with Invisalign to the American Board.
Dr. Schwartz believes there is always something new to learn about orthodontics; whether it is about appliances or treatment, there are always changes that can benefit his patients.  Even if it's only a small modification to a bracket's design and it makes his patients' results better or treatment more comfortable, he likes it!  
In the Dental Community
Most local dental organizations are run by volunteers, and Dr. Schwartz feels it is very important to give back to his profession through volunteering his time and efforts to better these organizations.  Being involved is not only a great way to give back, but is also a way for him to interact with other dentists and specialists and foster better collaboration of patient care.
Dr. Schwartz is currently the President of the Greater Washington, DC Chapter of Alpha Omega (AO), the largest international Jewish dental organization.  The Greater Washington Chapter has approximately 100 members and hosts monthly continuing education dinner meetings for its members.  Last year he served as President-elect and Chairman of Continuing Education and has served on their executive board in other capacities for 5 years prior to that.
In every issue since he has been in private practice, Dr. Schwartz has been voted a Top Orthodontist by Washingtonian Magazine.  In 2011 he also received "the asterisk" next to his name for being one of the top vote getters!  The magazine polls 3000 Washington, Maryland, and Virginia dentists, asking who they would have treat their family members if they needed orthodontics.  Dr. Schwartz was one of only a few orthodontists selected in the downtown area and was the only orthodontist selected in Rockville, MD.
Dr. Schwartz has been nationally recognized for his Invisalign® treatment of adults.  In May 2004, he was honored in Orlando, Florida, at the American Association of Orthodontists convention for being one of the top Invisalign® providers internationally.  In May 2005, he was named an Invisalign® Premier Provider, a distinction given to the top 5% of Invisalign® certified doctors.  In 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011, Dr. Schwartz has been named an Invisalign® Elite Premier Provider, ranking him in the top 1% internationally with regards to Invisalign® experience.  Most recently he has begun teaching continuing education classes to other orthodontists and dentists with regards to increasing the predictability of Invisalign therapy.
