Dr. Andrew Shur, DDS

Referred by my dentist, this is my second experience with Dr. Shur. Appointments have been quickly set up and his explanations of needs have been clear. Visits and procedures have been efficient and relatively painless. He always asks that you call immediately if there is any problem. I have never had to call.

My dentist referred me to Dr. Shur and within three days my root canal condition was fully taken care of. Dr. Shur and his team provided exceptional care. They were consistently respectful, answered all my questions, encouraged me to call if I had any follow up issues or concerns. The process itself only took about an hour which was considerably less time than I anticipated based on a previous experience with an other provider. I highly recommend Dr. Shur and his associates for for quality dental services.

I saw doctor Shur in the Lewiston office a couple of years ago and just recently found out from another Endodontist in town that my tooth had a hole through the tooth into the bone and would need to be extracted. Further more, while I was in his office he was so rough and caused be so much pain during the procedure that I cried. I literally got up as soon as the dental dam was off and walked right out of the office. I couldn't be around this insensitive uncaring jerk one more second. What an awful experience and I let it pass, but now recently found out the damage he did to my tooth and it makes me even more angry that I felt I should warn others.

Dr. Shur got me right in for an appointment despite the very inconvenient timing of my tooth pain. Unfortunately the difficulty of the procedure my tooth required was not explained to me and as a result it was a VERY traumatic and scarring experience. I could feel Dr. Shur and his (very rough) assistant pulling and tugging and cutting and drilling, and since they had not explained what they were going to be doing or why, I ended up crying during everything and in the bathroom following the whole experienceâ?¦ it was very, very upsetting. I believe Dr. Shur is experienced in his profession, and is a skilled surgeon but the work he does is not easy on his patients, and I wish he and his team had taken the time to explain the procedure, and had been sensitive enough to observe how obviously upset I was---if he had, a lot of trauma could have been avoided. I will always be grateful that he got me right in and didn't mess up the procedures, but his work did sincerely traumatize me, and as a… result I will always have extreme anxiety and distrust regarding dental procedures.
