Prompt, very thorough in reviewing records and imaging, extremely knowledegable when it comes to the spine. Seemed like he really cared and spent a great deal of time explaining everything. The one complaint is that like most surgeons he has no patience to listen, so have your facts ready and keep them short and simple.

Dr. Slucky is a hero to me. He performed an emergency lumbar discectomy when I herniated a disc, opened he schedule so that he could do it right away, and because of that likely saved my ability to walk without a gimp leg.During my follow up I asked him to review an MRI that was done on my cervical spine. I had been told that I had some bulging discs by another Dr and was being treated with epidural injections and physical therapy. With one quick look Dr Slucky was able to determine that I had been improperly diagnosed and in fact had a massive disc herniation. Dr Slucky performed a cervical discectomy and replaced the disc with an artificial disc implant. Years of shoulder pain was gone immediately.Doctor Slucky is exactly what you want in a spinal surgeon...he knows exactly what he is doing, he educates you, he is confident (maybe a bit cocky) which in my book is a good thing for someone working on your spine, and he seems to really care about his patients well being. Every… time I saw him he inquired about my Dad whom he met on one visit.I had two major surgeries by doctor Slucky within 4 months...I can't say enough good things about this man and I would recommend him highly.

Dr. Slucky was the Dr. that ended a 4 year search for what was going on with me. Once I was able to see him he was thoughtful and through and helped figure out how to reduce my suffering. Wound up with major spine surgery, but my life is much better for having gone through with it.

Read what you are signing and ask for a copy off all documents you are required to sign. Don't trust him to sign a document based on his description of it's contents. You might endup being drugged for over 2 hours and forced to answer questions you would rather save for another time. You are very angry that he questions you but you cannot do anything about it. You are laying drugged on the operating table unable to leave. Oh, don' bother asking why your "surgery" took 6 hours instead of 2. You are not supposed to remember so you will be lied to and your records will not mention what really happened. THRIVE
