Dr. Andrew James Stein, MD

Dr Stein has treated 4 of my family members prior to treating me and agree with all of them that he is one of the best surgeons I have ever encountered. I had bilateral carpal tunnel release using minimum open technique. My incisions are tiny and I was back at work the next day! His years of experience really show, and in my book, experience goes a very long way when selecting a surgeon. I love how direct and upfront he is...he's my doctor, not my friend after all. I want honesty, not sugar coated answers. I hope you don't need surgery, but if you do, make sure you use Dr. Andrew Stein in San Leandro.

Stay away from Dr Andrew stein, he is a butcher not surgeon .

HE TOTALLY SCREWED UP MY DAUGHTERS ARM, TOTALLY DID UNNECESSARY SURGEY LEAVING HER BOTH SCARED AND NO USE OF HER WRIST. WHAT WAS JUST A MINOR PROBLEM IS NOW LEFT HER WITH NO USE OF HER HAND, PLEASE ASK QUESTIONS BEFORE HE PUTS YOU UNDER THE KNIFE

I came in as a work-comp. patient. Dr. Stein is a "specialist" that comes to the clinic I go to, on Wednesdays. If it was not for him I would not have been diagnosed correctly. I was originally told I had a case of "tennis elbow". He got me in for a MRI within a couple days after seeing me (no small feat with w/c insurance), and actually called me on my cell phone when he was able to view the images, to tell me what he saw. He told me my options, after discovering I had a fully ruptured Biceps tendon. ... and then I researched him. People seem to either love him or hate him. I suppose that is what you find on review websites. The most common criticism seems to be that he is arrogant. I can see that (kind of). He is a highly intelligent man. He has chosen to handle work injuries along with his regular practice. The clinic office (not his) is a grind-mill. They push through patients. He comes straight to the point with the limited time he has to deal with each case. Some might… view his manner as pompous, but I see it as professional. I find him to be a competent and personable Doctor and Surgeon. I feel lucky that I fell into his services. As for the wait time, when they asked about my experience, they didn't ask about anything less than 5 minutes... I arrived 15 minutes early at his office (not the clinic), and I wasn't able to crack open the book I brought when he came back from his lunch and told me to come on in. I am only in the middle of my recovery, but I have no problem giving this doctor a four star rating.

I found another doctor, for many reasons!

I really enjoy being seen by his doctor staff..he sent me through the necessary test and his p.a sat and went over.the numbers with me. He didn't plan any surgeries until he found out if i had rehab therapy and other previous treatment.i would definitely recommend this doctor. Unlike all these other bogus comments,i had a great experience.

I had the misfortune to have Dr. Stein assigned for my carpal-tunnel surgery. He decided that I needed to have wrist and elbow surgery for both of my arms. All I was seeking was a second opinion on my right hand. The moment I questioned the surgery he was terribly upset and immediately threaten to stop my worker's comp benefits. I agreed with the surgery on my right arm and now 3 months later he tells me that I should be all better and unless I agree to do surgery on my left arm he would terminate my benefits. Are you kidding, I haven't fully recover from my right arm's surgery and since I didn't agree with more surgery he stops my benefits. I'm still in pain and I'm not convinced that the surgery he did fixed me. I'm in the process of seeing another doctor to evaluate his surgery and treatment. It is obvious that Dr. Stein is working a corrupted system and making the most of it. Thanks to him I still have an injured right arm and no benefits, two kids at home and a wife with no real… income. I can only say that what goes around comes around. I hope to never to cross paths with him. Thank you for reading.

I went in and filled out a few papers. After finishing I was told I would be seen next, unfortunately that was not the case. After waiting 11/2 hours I went to speak with the lady's in the front , they told me I'd be seen in 10 minutes max, giving them the benefit of the doubt I waited. Another 45minutes passed before I went to them again, at this point I had no reason to want to see dr. Stein, i was standingatthe front desk and the lady said oh.. Right this way. Meanwhile I hear dr. Stein conversating over a joke with one of his assistants, so I decided to leave telling them I will not return. Worst experience!

Let me say that Dr. Stein and his entire office staff showed professionalism and genuine concern for all my needs. Dr. Stein accurately diagnosed and surgically repaired all the issues with my hand and arm using his cutting edge techniques. I am truly grateful for him and his staff.
