He was very nice in our meeting and did a good job in explaining the different option for sleep apnea. Unfortunately he said that a mouth guard would cost about $5000 and his sleep apnea machine would be best to try first. Wrong! It would have been better to go for the mouth guard immediately as I had been in a car accident and had injury and great pain in my neck. The sleep machine head gear pushed on the back of the neck creating more pain and headaches. When I asked for a referral to get a oral appliance he said no. Yet when I met with him in his office he would give me one if this didn't work. Also one should understand a good staff would have availability to meet the doctor in the required month of receiving a machine. He had no openings until 2 1/2 months later. Also his office called for my medicare check and supplies. I said I'm not on medicare! Seriously sick of calls from unknowing medical professionals wasting my time. I called during the month to be bounced… around and waited on hold. What a joke. The real cost of the oral appliance in pricing with 3 other groups was $1500. His group directed me to a provider in my area. The provider laughed at me and said we haven't made an oral appliance in 15 years! Clearly this so called rising star hasn't made the big time list and with his industry knowledge and inability to listen to a patient tell him about TBI and Head and Neck Pain you would have thought he would have sucked it up and suggested I find mouth guard first. I don't see a patient focus. But never have at Allina anyway. Perhaps it is the wrong organization that is doing this doc in too.
