Dr. Andrew Dean Vassil

Dr. Vassil is a wonderful, empathetic, doctor. I moved to Florida after my last round of radiation. His "graduation ceremony" was a very special moment for me. I also had my first round of Keytruda later that day. The next day, I moved to Florida, continuing my treatments at the Ceveland Clinic down here. I became very, very sick and ended up being admitted to the Clinic in Weston 5 days after I got here. The pain was excruciating and they put me on pain medication whilst in the hospital. What a relief! i was released, and they would not give me a script of the Oxycodone that Dr. Vassil had me on in Cleveland to go home with. I had a new appointment with a new oncologist that was over a month out and the pain was excruciating! Since I had not seen my new oncologist, my other docs in Cleveland, including my Cleveland oncologist basically said, too bad, so sad. My other Cleveland favorite doc, internal medicine Doctor, Robert Cain also couldn't help, but...he suggested that I call Dr.… Vassil, so I did. I explained the situation to his sweet, wonderful receptionist, Nancy, and she relayed the message to Dr. Vassil. He personally called me, I explained what was going on, and he immediately offered to get me the script! My sister went to his office, picked it up, and overnited it to me. He literally saved my sanity, and eased my pain! He made sure that I had plenty to get me through until I saw my new oncologist that told me he did not write scripts! I then went to pain management where I was told that he too did not write scripts! This was two days ago! I had two oxys left and a kidney infection that was dx'd during my stay at Weston.(Cleveland Clinic, Fl) Well, I fell apart in his office and, bless his heart, he wrote the script and referred me to a pain mgmt doc that is not in the Clinic. Florida is the worst state to deal with pain meds. I also have neuropathy from treatment for breast cancer I had in 2006, and I also suffer with fibromyalgia and a myriad of other chronic pain issues. I want to come back to Ohio! Thank you Dr. Vassil for being my knight in shining armor. If it weren't for him I don't know what I would have done. You are an honorable man that came through for me when no one else would and I will continue to sing your praises to anyone that will listen. You are all that a doctor should be. Not only because of this incident, but because you explained things to me, and you listened. Thank you, thank you thank you!
