Dr. Andrew Weitzel, DO

Dr Weitzel was not only exceptional but his staff was very impressive. From scheduling my appointment to the nurses providing extraordinary care i am happy to have found a Dr who makes a difference this days.

I met Dr. Weitzel through the Fawcett memorial Hospital's ER. I went to the ER with blood in my urine, and Dr. Weitzel was the on-call Urologist. His manner was gruff and condescending. I was released from the hospital with a diagnosis on a Urinary Tract Infection. Dr. Weitzel's office scheduled a procedure (cystoscopy) a week and a half after my release, and refused to see me any earlier. My diagnosed condition called for treatment with antibiotics. Dr. Weitzel refuse to prescribe them. He claimed that, since he did not see me in his office, but instead in the hospital, he could not prescribe medication. Dr. Weitzel was willing to let my infection go untreated for a week and a half. I was stunned. After several phone calls to Fawcett Memorial, I found someone who faxed a prescription for the appropriate antibiotics to my pharmacy. The day before the aforementioned, scheduled procedure, someone from Weitzel's office called me and threatened to cancel the procedure unless paperwork… approving payment was received from the VA. It had been approved a week earlier. From day one Dr. Weitzel's behavior and attitude, as well as that of his staff, had been nightmarish to say the least. I write this review in the hope that it might spare some unsuspecting patient the nightmare I went through as a victim of Dr. Weitzel.

I have known Dr weitzel for 4 yrs and I find him one of the most compassionate Drs in port Charlotte. There are times I have to wait to see him, but his wait times are less than any other Dr I see.

New patient to Dr Weitzel and overall very pleased. The parking garage is an issue but the office has made every attempt to make that a smooth process. They even mail out a letter letting you know where to park and what to expect. Staff was pleasant. Dr Weitzel was attentive and has a great sense of humor. He loves to golf and he engaged with me and my wife. Very Happy and will be returning to him for care.

I read these reviews and was conflicted on seeing Dr Weitzel but my primary care Dr highly recommended him and I’m glad I didn’t listen to these reviews. The office is on the smaller side and the staff courteous and helpful. Dr Weitzel was polite very knowledgeable and my visit was better than expected. He’s direct and honest but u appreciate that. He even made time to speak to my wife. Overall very pleased and will continue seeing Dr Weitzel.

I’ve been a patient of Dr a Weitzels for almost four years now. Dr Weitzel and his staff have always tried going above and beyond and assisting in any issues or concerns I have. Dr Weitzel is direct and very open and honest. I’ve never heard him speak I’ll of anyone let alone his staff. He has always shown the most compassion to his patients and staff and every time I have an appointment his staff is celebrating or having fun. I believe there are people who you can never please and they leave these bad reviews. If they addressed their concerns with the office manage or Dr himself they would be taken care of reasonably. All of Dr Weitzels staff are well mannered and professional. To say anyone is fat or sloppy or easy is just disheartening and something I know he would never say. It is sad to see the reviews that are left especially the poor ones where people can hide from what they say. This doesn’t help the office, the staff, nor the Doctors. Please don’t go based on these bad… reviews. If you want a good, caring, and compassionate Dr see Dr Weitzel. You won’t be disappointed.

As posted by another patient, he is ignorant, rude, self centered and he believes he is God. Not only have comments been left about his employees, they don't know how bad he speaks about them being fat, dirty, sloppy and easy. He would be the last doctor on earth I would go to. The only reason he has patients is he is the hospital doctor and is next door to the hospital. If you go to Fawcett Hospital, ask for a different doctor.

Poor office quality staff here looks like they want to bird box themselves and remove the blind folds.
