Dr. Andy Cheng, MD

Dismissive Care and Lack of Guidance for Hashimoto’s I was referred to Dr. Cheng for management of Hashimoto’s after years of being misdiagnosed and undertreated by other providers. Unfortunately, my experience with him was disappointing. He dismissed the value of reverse T3 and TPO antibodies and said they have no role in treatment. I received no guidance on supporting healing through nutrition, lifestyle, or how long symptoms might last. When I brought up my ongoing symptoms—fatigue, joint pain, inflammation, brain fog—he offered no solutions and told me I should seek care outside of Kaiser if I wanted more help. I had to ask if he wanted me to swallow during the thyroid exam. He replied, “Well, I suppose. It doesn’t help, though.” That response made me feel like the exam was just for show and that my concerns were not taken seriously. I left the appointment feeling dismissed and without a real plan. His office was more focused on my BP (I have white coat syndrome). I do not… recommend this provider if you are looking for compassionate, full-spectrum thyroid or autoimmune care.
