Dr. Eduardo Alcocer, MD

I have been going to Alcocer for many, many years. Usually for routine things. But now I have a big problem. After an endoscopy, colonoscopy, 2 CT scans, a MRCP in the near future, 2 ER visits, I have no diagnosis. I don’t know where to go next.

Dr. Alcocer explained in detail and answered all my questions. Felt at ease.

On a tele health call, Dr Alcocer and I had an interview in which the doctor asked many pertinent questions. He made it easy to communicate my situation and problems to him. Subsequently he will soon be doing a procedure for me. I feel confident.

I highly recommend doctor Eduardo Alcocer, because he is a very caring person, speaks in terms that you can understand. He is very easy to talk to. He take time with his patients to ensure they understand what their health needs are.

The appointment booking and office was fine. However, Doctor Alcocer was far less then I had hoped. After 40 yrs of problems, he did not listen to a thing I said. He never heard me. He needs to learn to at least spend a little time trying to understand the patient. It is uncomfortable enough going to a gastroenterologist and then to have them not spend a little time trying to understand your situation and problem, is unacceptable. He told me to eat a certain diet and I would feel 100% better. Only problem was, I was already on the diet. That should tell you how well he listened to me. I never write reviews, and I have seen many gastroenterologists over the years just not in Austin, I would never recommend him to anyone. I am already looking for someone else. There has to be better then this.

I have been seeing Dr Alcocer for almost 3 yrs now. He has always been respectful and caring. I have a particularly difficult condition to treat and he has always been available and helpful.

pent over a year seeing Dr. Alcocer with no diagnosis. Symptoms (severe abdominal pain, vomiting every 7-10 days) continued to get worse. Had CT scan, barium x-ray, colonoscopy, endoscopy. Every time I had a test, I had to call and find out results. There was no follow up or effort to even pretend that this office cared about my health. My dog's vet has a better system of followup. When I went to the office to demand a copy of my records, front desk person gave them to me without even asking for ID!!! Finally after 15lb weight loss and symptoms getting more and more horrific, he ordered a second CT scan. It was a GIST tumor on small bowel, malignant. The radiologist noted that the tumor had been present on THE FIRST SCAN FROM A YEAR BEFORE. Dr. Alcocer and Austin Gastro are the worst.

Dr. Alcocer is one of the worst mds I have ever come across. He is not engaged with his patients and stares at his computer screen throughout visit. But worse than that, the practice itself seems to have zero patient care standards. I had test after test, ct scans, endo, colonoscopy, blood tests and never received followup calls with the results. I would have to call to find out feedback. And when the feedback was inconclusive there was no effort to continue helping the patient, no "well, we need to have you come back in and see what we can do next to help you feel better." I went in person to the office to ask for my entire medical records (to take to another practice) and the front desk nurse handed them to me without asking for my I.D.
