Dr. Angela Dauby Harper, MD

I've been seeing her for years and I hope she never retires! She has helped me in ways I could never express. Doesn't just write my meds but cares about me as a person. Tells me things I need to hear to put me on the right path. Best doctor I have!

Excellent!

I've been seeing Dr. Harper for about two to three years for some anxiety and depression. She has been wonderful helping me find the right medicine and listening and guiding me through a difficult family situation. I read some of these other reviews and I don't know what others have complained about. I am not seeing someone to be a friend and I know that it's difficult to find someone who is good, so I'm not about wasting anyone's time. She has always returned my calls and her office staff has been kind and professional. I'm very grateful for her care. I feel like she has helped me heal.

I was her patient for nearly 10 years. She paid careful attention to my meds. She is not a psychotherapist. Her advice is not useful. She charged me a “late cancellation” fee of $110, which I was unhappy about. So she “released” me to my GP (fired me) rather than offering any solution to the fee. I’m not unhappy that she has moved me to my GP. It was a half-hour I spent just to get my scrip.

Unbelievable lack of service and respect for patients and potential patients. Pre-authorization fees to even determine if they want to see you, blocks emails from patients because they cannot be bothered when patients who need immediate assistance and they make false claims about tasks they state they completed, blaming the pharmacy and patients as the problem (show the proof with phone records, their word is worth nothing). Your personal GM can provide just as good if not better care and respect.

A waking nightmare, my work with Angela was the worst experience I have ever had with any doctor of any kind. She is very up front about having a relatively no-nonsense, tough-love approach. I found it refreshing and confidence-inspiring. Regrettably, her execution was directly in line with the stereotypical all-knowing, empathy-free psychiatrist who mandates a medication and treats fears or objections as slights on her expertise. So much so she fires the noncompliant--at least she did so in my case. (Her lengthy, argumentative explanation for the firing left me feeling belittled, insulted, and ashamed of my diagnosis.) I am left with the conviction that Angela’s tough-love philosophy is a mask for the kind of indifferent laziness that results from professional ineptitude. Her office is very well-run by excellent staff.

I have never seen a psychiatrist and I was really nervous. Dr. Harper put me at ease and talked to me like a regular person. I'm so glad I went to the appointment. I almost cancelled it. I'm feeling better, finally, after years of probably being on the wrong medicine.

I was recommended Dr.Harper by my gynecologist last year. It was out of my control that I had to cancel, in advance my appointments. My husband became severely ill with a very rare condition that led us to Duke and even the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. I have had both my GYN and PCP send in referrals to this practice. I was refused by Dr. Harper who hand picks her patients based on the fact that I had to cancel appointments last summer. I was told this by the receptionist who also said that she is the only doctor seeing new adult patients. There is a crisis in this country for good mental care help and this is proof of that statement. It’s a very unfortunate event that my husband almost died and is still not out of the woods, and I am in need of a qualified doctor that was recommended to me to assist me in coping with my ordeal.
