Dr. Angela D Hawkes, MD

She is by far the worst doctor in general I have ever seen in my life and I have seen several. She is super dismissive with awful bedside manner. She downplays everything and does the bare minimum. I had a positive lupus and RA test she didn’t believe. Stay away from the woman at all costs. She has multiple bad consistent reviews.

I am a patient of Dr. Hawkes and have been since she started practicing in Greensboro. I have had psoriatic arthritis for over 45 years. As an elderly patient, she has kept me mobile. I have found her to be kind, compassionate and caring. She is well informed and very up to date on treatment. I travel over two hours to see her. Her staff is helpful, kind and willing to help in scheduling my appointments. Do I recommend her to everyone? Yes, a thousand times yes!

She is horrible. Told me that all of my symptoms were due to depression. Didn’t want to do any tests. My PCP referred me to Duke. Turns out I have Lupus, Scleroderma, RA, Sjogrens and others/mixed connective tissue disease. She is the worst rheumatologist.

Dismissive, has no problem letting you leave in tears with no solutions. The techs watching me limp out in agony had more compassion than this specialist. I felt exactly how the other reviews leaving one stars feel. She doesn’t believe severe pain can be disabling and offers a suck it up no help approach. It’s also not cheap as they charge you a specialist rate. Your pain is real and other doctors out there are worth your time! Please save yourself the heartache I felt that day.

I had visited the Greensboro Rheumatology site to visit Dr. Hawkes where I was intending on a good and typical visit. Dr. Hawkes had come into the appointment room where she present bad bedside manner. She was very distasteful, she went against all of my verbalized concerns which then deterred me from wanted to speak more. We were having a heated discussion about wether or not Rheumatoid Arthritis was a disability. She did not think that having an auto-immune disease that affects joints and muscle movement was a disability and stated that no accommodations were needed in every day life. She then went on to slamming papers on the table and immediately dismissing me out of her presence based on different ideas on having arthritis, any accommodations needed, and respecting different cultural and religious needs. She was blatantly rude and disregarding. I would recommend doctor Hawkes only for people who do not appease her views on cultural differences and religious rituals (fasting). For… those who do meet the same values I would recommend her.

I went in for a second opinion on a diagnosis. When talking to me she GRILLED me, interrupted me several times, corrected what I said, and showed NO compassion for my condition. I actually walked out of the appointment after 10 minutes with her, she is a doctor who likes to tell her patients what to do with no input from them. I like to have a say in my healthcare; she showed no signs of caring what I was telling her.

Whether they tell you or not if you accidentally write down your appointment wrong and then call them back you will find that they will no longer allow you to be their patient . That’s right , I missed one appointment that I had wrote down incorrectly 1 day off and when they finally returned my phone call it was to tell me I was no longer their patient . They are a sorry excuse for what they refer to themselves as a drs office . They don’t care about their patients or potential new ones . Worse dr I have ever dealt with in 36 years. I have every intention of dragging their a** through the mud

I've followed Dr Hawks to 3 different practices. Glad she left the last one. She's a very caring physician..

Dr Hawkes is a wonderful Dr. , she is very patient with me and always answers my questions. Her staff is "Ashley" is also very friendly and helpful

Was referred to Dr. Hawkes by my PCP when I had been experiencing unexplained joint pain and extreme fatigue for a couple months. My PCP thought I had Fibromyalgia. Dr. Hawkes asked me a few questions, touched me a few places to see if it was tender and then told me I didn't have Fibromyalgia because I would have had to be experiencing the pain and fatigue for over a year so she told me to come back in 6 months or so if I was still feeling the same way. She wants me to suffer another 6 months before she is willing to help me?? This doctor should not be practicing if this is the way she treats all her patients. She is obviously just in it for the money, not because she wants to help people!
