Dr. Angela Hanchi Shay, MD

The office and staff were good, the Dr. Shay however, was the worst part of the experience. I have never encountered a doctor who was so vague and unkind regarding results, tests and bedside manner. I came out of the appointment more confused, upset and discouraged than ever before. My experience with Dr. Shay has scarred me enough to prevent me from ever wanting to seek out another gynecologist. My diagnosis was delivered so swiftly and vague that i did not understand what the outcome actually was. I came out thinking I was guilty for possibly having cancer and needed to email my general doctor in order to ascertain what was actually being said. My general doctor had to clarify that there was an irregularity in my test that can be monitored with periodic tests, that I was young and healthy enough for my body to rid it naturally and that the most drastic outcome would be for it to develop into cancer along the line. After realizing that the diagnosis was only meant to suggest that… cancer is a possibility along the line and that it was NOT at that stage yet, I was relieved. Dr. Shay hustled me out of the office after relaying that I may have cancer, and made no effort whatsoever to convey that it was only a possibility and that I should get checked consistently to keep track. After hearing the news initially, I was shocked and didnt move and couldn't speak, so Dr. Shay then proceeded to open the door to the room and left. I have never had such a traumatic experience with a doctor and hope that this doctor has since learned how to treat patients in a more kind, professional manner and delivers a clearer diagnosis with proper follow-up procedures.
