She was super nice, just wasn't the best listener.

Very knowledgeable, thorough, helpful, shared tips and medical advice about my new diagnosis. Friendly, helpful, caring. I appreciated they said they would send a book, but being curious and scientifically-minded, I actually would have liked even more information and resources. I know the general idea is that you should develop patient materials for a 3rd grade reading level for accessibility, and maybe that's still considered a best practice, but it would be worth remembering that more than 1/3 of the population has a college degree, many have advanced degrees, and some of us might like to go more in-depth with the latest research, peer-reviewed medical literature, etc. Ultimately I feel like I have enough material to manage my diagnosis at a surface level, but I like to actively involve myself in my health, and would have liked learning about the anatomy and science underlying the disease, so I was left a bit "hungry" for more in-depth information. I understand that might not work… for everybody, but it's something to think about--how can you provide even more information for those who want to take an active, research-oriented involvement in their health and care of their bodies and their loved ones? (For example, when my wife was diagnosed with a gallbladder issue, I read absolutely everything I could find about it, including new literature appearing in the journal databases! I can't be the only one who is like this. We have more information in the world than ever before.)
