Dr. Anika Wilson, MD

i am not trying to ruin anyone's life, career, or anything like that. just the opposite, really. anyway, i started seeing dr. wilson when i was maybe 14 or 15. for context, i am clinically diagnosed with ADD, MDD, and GAD. for the first few appointments, she was okay. she recognized my depression and anxiety which she sought to help by prescribing lexapro. it did absolutely nothing for me but make me angry, increasingly more suicidal, and gain weight. i was even more depressed, and she simply chalked it up to me not being patient enough with the meds. moreover, with an extensive family history of attention/focus disorders, i began suspecting i had ADD. i mentioned my concerns and all of the behaviors i had been exhibiting for quite some time. i underwent hours of torturous testing and regardless of the results, she would blame my problems on me being only distracted by my sadness. she would not listen, no matter how much i pleaded with her to try to understand me and my symptoms. as a… psychology major, i do understand the concern of misdiagnosing, especially with ADD. however, because i was not being genuinely heard by her, i pleaded with my mother to find me a different psychiatrist. after about two years with my current psychiatrist, i am the happiest i have been in years. my current psychiatrist genuinely cares about my wellbeing and tries to hear me and understand me. if you're reading this, i beg of you: do not bring your kid to see dr. wilson. she will spend maybe fifteen minutes on them, hastily write up a script, and then hurry them along so she can see someone else and happily take their money too.

While at first she would might seem distant or uninterested, she in fact is listening carefully to every your every word and even movement. She will even remember them you next visit. And beneath the professional behavior that that she radiates there is a caring charm about her. I don't normally write reviews, but I think that she deserved one. Especially after I read the thoughtless one star reviews. She cant magically determine what medication will work for you are your child. No doctor can. Not even FDA approved ones. And she can do nothing about your complaints with money, she is not the billing department or your insurance company. She will make sure your blood pressure is normal before she prescribes you anything that might interfere. That might have saved my life. Thank you Dr. Anika Wilson.

I have debated posting this for a long time, but I feel obligated to save people from an experience like so many have encountered. Please avoid this practice; I have firsthand accounts of their bad conduct. Clients report that Dr. Wilson has advised them to cut extended release tablets in half (anyone with Google knows you should never do this). Office staff has made their adolescent clients cry with their unprofessional demeanors and behavior. They have forced their young clients to leave the office to retrieve their copays for the day (account-current clients who never miss a copay, just forgot their wallets one time), which then caused them to miss their appointment with the therapist in the SAME office - AND get slapped with a late fee from the same people! (They knew the client had another appointment and that parent could/would call in a payment!) Multiple clients report Dr. Wilson has prescribed them medication that has not yet been FDA approved for use in pediatrics. The people… in this office work with a special population, yet don't act like they even work with human beings. This is not to ruin a reputation. This is because I care. Please find another provider.

Dr. Wilson would not listen to my concerns as a parent. My daughter came in with depression and anxiety. After switching her meds around, I had a depressed, anxious and ANGRY child. Come to find out, she was giving my daughter a dose of medication that is not appropriate for even an adult! She was taking more than the max daily dose. She did not listen to my concerns to take her off this medicine. Once we went to a new provider, my daughter was taken off of the medicine, and once on the new med, she was no longer angry! She was more concerned with trying to be right, than to help my child. She is very "uppity" and looks at her patients as $$$, not people. Do not try to get an early morning appointment, ever! She is late consistently, and your 8 am turns into an 8:20......... Speaking of which, appointments are every 20 minutes. That is not enough time to actually listen to the concerns of the patient or parent. She had one office girl that left, not sure why, but she was the only… person that tried to help me. The office manager, if you can call her that, was never able to answer questions about billing or why I was paying more than I should have. She didn't seem to have much knowledge and when I asked about a refund that I was due from over payment, it took them 2 months to get my money back. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE!!!

After noticing my daughter had become distant and withdrawn, I contacted Dr. Wilson's office for an appointment. She has helped my daughter become the young lady she used to be. She still has anxiety, but with Dr. Wilson's help, she is able to do and see more than before.

Dr Wilson is very professional and has the ability to gain the trust of her patients with ease.

Really takes the time out to listen to her patients.
