Dr. Anita Chapman Hirsch, MD

Our 15 years old daughter was brought to Mills Adolescent Mental Health center after 2 days at the emergency hospital. She arrived 4 am in the morning and did not see any doctor before 8 pm at night (Dr. Hirsch Anita, MD) for a 10 minutes consultation. We have been reaching out to speak with the doctor but we didn't get any response. We came for a visit between noon and 1 pm and was told by the nurses that Dr. Hirsch Anita, changed her medication without reaching out to us first or even had spoken/seen our daughter. We were surprised but was thinking that the doctor knows what she is doing. (NOT...) For the next 24 hours we didn't speak with any doctors or social workers at all. After 32 hours when we visited our daughter for the second time/day she finally called when we were at the Mills sitting outside. She sounded annoyed from the beginning of our conversation properly because I was constantly pushing the nurses to contact her because we were left in the dark with no information… about our daughter at all... I told her that since our daughter haven't seen any therapist for more than 10 minutes the previous day we was considering taking her home with us since she has been hospitalized for more than 72 hours. She got really offended and told me that it was against her recommendation before our daughter have seen a social worker. I asked her on what reason and she didn't mention my daughters condition/helth at any time. I was frustrated and told her that my husband was sitting next to me and that they could continue the conversation because I could feel that this was going down hill- she told me that she didn't want to talk with him and that we didn't have anything more to discuss and she hung up on me. That was our experience with Dr. Hirsch Anita, MD. I have never experienced any doctors or therapists in my life that unprofessional and rude. When I came home I searched her up online and found out that she have many really bad reviews and lots of people/families have been devastated and chocked about her unprofessional way to deal with patient and relatives/families. I know that she charges $900 for a 10-15 minutes consultation from other reviews and I will do everything in my power to not pay her a single dime. I have made a complaint to Mills Adolescent Mental Health center and hopefully they will take hand of this problem.

Absolutely the worst doctor and Pychatrist I have ever had! She does not care about the mental health or progress of her patients, hours/appointments are never reliable and does not provide any after care or follow up treatments. Save your time, money, health, and get a doctor who actually makes an effort to help patients and not just throw medication at them.

I wish I was never assigned to her. She made my condition worse, spends about 5 minutes blabbering about medical advice she really knows nothing about, and charges you $900+ for her useless services. She diagnosed me with the wrong condition, and put me on medication that ended up also making me worse. Someone PLEASE take away her medical license and don't allow her to make anyone else struggling with mental illnesses worse.

Insurance - Dr. Hirsch does not take insurance. In fact, she lacks the support staff needed to submit anything (receipts) to insurance. I've just given up on this because Dr. Hirsch is the only psychiatrist who's ever been able to outsmart me. Bummer about this and therefore loses a star. What do you do with a patient who is smart and able to fool psychiatrists just by withholding critical bits of information? Or who is unaware of their own symptoms and therefore won't report it? Dr. Hirsch is just amazing at using everyday events (the news) and using it to gauge your depression or whatever. At my most depressed, I was so uninterested in daily events, I barely knew Trump was President. I kept wandering around thinking it was a bad dream, a product of my ghastly bad memory. I keep hoping I was psychotic. Sadly no. Trump really is president. Dr. Hirsch monitors my progress by tracking my ability to maintain normal daily activities. Her ability to assess my symptoms is so pervasive… and embedded in seemingly ordinary conversations, it's like watching an artist at work when she does the big reveal. One such was the kerfuffle over the aliens. For mysterious reasons, I do have memories that *might* be alien encounters. But I never thought it was aliens, just some unexplainable childhood memories. Just to check, I was assigned some reading about similar cases. I spent weeks trying to figure if the memories really were alien encounters or if it was just a set of peculiar memories. In the end, I ran a self-test and decided I was just suffering from wishful thinking. In the end, Dr. Hirsch concluded 1) I'm not suffering from any peculiar delusions and 2) if I am, I fully capable of figuring it out. BTW, apparently quite a few people have memories of alien encounters. Dr. Hirsch also challenges you when you've progressed far enough that you need to reintegrate more rigorous activities into your life. She advised me to consider attending a conference (something I would never have considered at that point). It was exactly the right activity to snap me out of my rut and rebuild my confidence that I could take on more. Her approach is unconventional but partly it's because she's after so much more than other doctors. She's carefully crafted a new direction in my life that is designed to protect me from future episodes of depression. Dr. Hirsch will never hold your hand because she wants you to stand up on your own two feet unassisted. This is Tough Love medicine.

My wife was charged (after insurance) over $900 for three 20 minute visits. In addition, Dr. Hirsch wouldn't give my wife her tax ID for my wife to present to her insurance company so she could receive back pay from her school district. In addition, Dr. Hirsch didn't return any of my wife's voice mails or personal note. Her voice mail was actually full the last time she tried. A bit odd for a psychiatrist.

Threw around medical terms just by looking at me, grumpy; and unpleasant

Showed up at the hospital about 9 PM. Refused to meet with me as the patient's relative. Was rude to my wife, talked down to her. Refused to listen. Highly not recommended.

Do not see this doctor, as the matter of fact she should not even be a doctor. She is horrible. Super hard to get a hold of. Wass supposed to be on call for my doctor and never called back when I was in desperate need. This lady does not really care for her patients as a doctor should. Her licenses and all credentials should be revoked. Does not know what she is doing .Should be fired.

I've had such a horrible time with Dr.Hirsch, I've been with her about a year and just this week I've finally made the break and transferred to another doctor. I'm so relieved and I can't wait to meet my new doctor. I don't know why I stayed with Hirsch for so long, I think I had something like Stockholm Syndrome or something... She's so incompetent! In the 1.5 years I've been with her I gained - get this - 100 lbs!!! I look like a whale! Every time I bring it up she says that's the way it's going to be from now on and there's nothing I can do about it. Psychiatry isn't new to me; I've been taking meds for years. It's only with her that I've ballooned this much. Her therapy appointments are a joke too! You wouldn't believe the stories I have... Every time I'm there she just ends up talking about news and current events, and every time I try to bring the conversation back to issues with my mother and self-esteem and such, she acts annoyed and bored and brings the conversation back to… where she wants it. The worst part? She is the biggest conspiracy nut I've ever met in my life. And not your run-of-the-mill conspiracies, but fre@king aliens! She told me she loves to watch Ancient Aliens, and she learned that in the middle ages, aliens came to our planet and gave sailors a map of our planet, and that's how sailors were able to navigate so well. She told me there's a map of Antarctica from before it was supposedly discovered, and supposedly the only explanation is aliens. I swear I'm NOT making this up. She costs about $400 per USELESS visit, she never answers her phone, her office is drabby and has this old musty smell, she's inflexible in all matters, she's non empathetic, judgmental, unhelpful, condescending, authoritative and prescriptive without listening to patient suggestions, requests, and inquiries. Overall I'm mad that I spent so much d@mn money on her I wish I could take it all back. I feel sorry for those assigned her at Good Sam. Do whatever you can to switch docs. Refuse to show up to her appointments, don't waste your money/time. She wastes it real good.

I was assigned to Hirsch from good sam hospital. They wouldn't let me switch to another psychiatrist so I was stuck paying her $450 a session (which lasts for about 5-10 minutes). She was always late, I always have to wait for at least 30 mins after the program to see her. I had family emergency once and told the staff I had to leave, the next session, she threaten to discharge me if I ever miss again. She doesn't care about her patients. I always felt like I was bothering her. I did not get the care that I needed from her. Now I am putting myself through medical school to make sure no other patient would feel neglected like I did.
