Ann Banes, DDS
Ann Banes was born in Louisville, Kentucky and grew up in the Midwest near Cincinnati, Ohio. She matriculated at the Pennsylvania State University and studied biology and chemistry. After marriage and relocation to Richmond, Virginia, she was an honors recipient of a BS in Medical Technology from Virginia Commonwealth University. She later attended and graduated from the School of Dentistry there. She was again honored at convocation for being the first female recipient of Omicron Kappa Upsilon at the school. She later became a member of the admissions board for VC School of dentistry and also became the first female faculty member hired there.
Since relocation to North Carolina, Dr. Banes has been in private general practice. She is highly regarded in the community with an excellent record of patient satisfaction. The number of out of state patients who travel here for their reconstructive needs also speak of her level of skill. With over 30 years of hands-on …experience in dentistry, she has also stayed on the cutting edge of technology and education. She has over 2000 continuing education hours in cosmetics, occlusion and reconstruction dentistry. Her post-graduate academic endeavors include being an alumna of The Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Studies, (Key Biscayne, FL) and The Dawson Institute of Advanced Dental Education, (St. Petersburg, FL).
She has taken numerous courses at the Center for Cosmetic excellence in Chicago and is also an Invisalign certified dentist. Dr. Banes is also conscious sedation certified.
She is a member of the American Dental Association, The Academy of General Dentists, The American Academy of Cosmetic Dentists, Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation as well as local and state organizations.
In her spare time, Dr. Banes enjoys spending time with her three children; Mark, Andrea and Ashley. She also has three beautiful grandchildren: Sofia,Juan Enrique, and Kylie. She also loves creative endeavors: flower arranging, writing, painting, singing, and especially dancing. She enjoys competitive pro-am ballroom dancing and is pursuing her interest in theatre set and costume design.
She currently lives in Chatham County with her dog, “Caliente.”
