Dr. Ann E Cornell, MD

I love Dr. Cornell. She takes the time to get to know her patients and is very patient and understanding. I feel comfortable sharing my concerns with her and I know she will offer helpful suggestions. Thank you Dr. Cornell for delivering my two baby girls and helping me get through stressful pregnancies. You are THE BEST!

Dr. Cornell was my OBGYN while I was pregnant with my son. Our first visit was friendly and direct, but as time went on, I should have listened to my gut and changed doctors. I found her to be very rushed during prenatal visits, and only interested in "need to know" information. When I wanted to discuss my preferences for birth, she crossed out segments of my birth plan with her pen and told me I should have schedule a special appointment if I wanted to discuss details. What is a prenatal appointment for, then? I felt dismissed. She also told me, "I get frustrated with women who don't push well." Not exactly a supportive comment for a first-time birth. It was a relief she was unavailable during labor. Another doctor came in and I had a very good and positive labor experience. I cannot recommend her, especially if you are looking for rapport and someone to build your pregnancy and birthing experience together.

I had HPV, and dr. Cornell performed the leep procedure. It hasn't come back for 5 years. Last year when I was delivering my op baby, I pushed for four hours. Dr. Cornell gave me the option of a c-section. Luckily I didn't, since I was able to have a natural birth. Dr. Cornell did not push me to have a c-section, and I'm very grateful for this! Dr. Cornell might be fairly quick in her office appointments, but when it comes to actual issues you might have, she takes her time and is very professional.

She has been my GYN for the past 8 years, and I have never had a problem with her. She seems much more personable than my other doctors. She does seem rushed at times, but I have the feeling that she would stop in her tracks if I had a real issue. She and her staff are very prompt in returning phone calls and emails.

She has been adequate for me as far as yearly visits. Quick in and out service, professional but not overly friendly. Now that I am trying to get preganant at the age of 39, she is not very helpful. I feel like we have no plan! After talking to my friends who are having babies, their experiences have been very different-doctors spending a lot of time with them setting expectations, time frames, and suggestions of what to do next. Last time I was there, she kept having to leave the office during my exam to "see another patient". In reality, I checked in for my appointment right at the same time a vendor was checking in to see her. I am positive she kept popping out to see this rep, which left me furious and half-dressed in the exam room. Needless to say, I am on here looking for recommendations and reviews of other doctors...

She has been my primary gynecologist since high school. She's a good doctor, but sometimes you feel like she doesn't care about issues you are concerned with. In the past two or three years, I have continually had to miss appointments because she had to deliver babies, (which was fine), but my annual is only covered at a certain time by my insurance and I rely on birth control and sometimes I have to reschedule for a month or even two months later, which is unacceptable if you have an appointment scheduled for a year. She's a great OB, but I wouldn't recommend if you need for just a GYN, with no intentions of becoming pregnant anytime soon.

Overall, my experience was adequate. It wasn't over the top and maybe I expected it to be since it was my first pregnancy. Dr. Cornell is a good doctor, but I was a little disappointed because I felt as though a good personal rapport with her had not really been established. I felt it was hard to get to know her. Most of the time I felt as though I was just another patient, and maybe I was, but one would rather not notice it. I didn't see my doctor as much as I would have liked during my hospital stay either. My doctor was in and out and sometimes I would go several days without seeing her. This would have been fine had I had a normal pregnancy, but I developed serious complications. I had many other doctors and residents who covered for her, but in times of a possible family disaster (which it was) I would have liked for her to have been at the bedside more.
