"Had a screening colonoscopy today. Dr Reardon was the last to walk in before I was taken back. She never looked me in the eye, didn't really say hello. She pushed the curtain back, never looked at me. Looked straight at the paperwork on the fold down desk, signed something and stated her name and that she'd be doing my anesthesia for the procedure. Not a good morning, no smile, no do you have any questions for me... Nothing. In the hall while wheeling me back, she asked if I'd ever had problems with anesthesia. I stated I'd only been under a couple of times. Before I could finish my statement with " but I didn't have any problems on those few times"... She interrupted me with " but did you have any problems?" Once in the room.... She pulled my hair jamming the pillow under my head( rather abruptly).... She had the med in the syringe, grabbed the IV hub, started injecting and said " see you after it's done".... My previous experience was far more comforting/reassuring.... With an… explanation of what to expect, asked if I had any questions, told to count backwards from 100..... Anyway... All went well, grateful for that.... I'm sure she is qualified. But the bedside manner was not the best I've seen or the most comforting to someone feeling very vulnerable.
