Dr. Ann Marie Shippy, MD

Dr. Shippy follows the Functional Medicine methodology, which involves seeing the body as a whole system of interacting functions and not so much as a collection of parts. I'm a believer in this approach but Dr. Shippy's execution of it did not work for me. She takes the shotgun approach of testing and treating many different things at once, requiring the purchase of a lot of expensive tests and supplements (the first visit cost me over $1000 including the consultation and the supplements and tests). Not only is this overwhelming but also doesn't allow the discovery (through trial and felt experience) of which things are working and which aren't. Dr. Shippy provides a lot of attention during the consultations but I experienced her primary staff members as very unresponsive or late in responding and never once received a proactive call from the office (e.g. to see how I was doing or to give me test results). I had to initiate every interaction and often had to try several times to get… what I was looking for. Since Dr. Shippy doesn't take insurance, the approach is very expensive and I would expect a strong customer service experience to come with that price tag. I'm still a fan of functional medicine but will be seeking it elsewhere.

Excellent Doctor. I was going around in circles with declining health for years until I found Dr. Shippy. She diagnosed the problems not the symptom and was able to put together a healing protocol. Whenever I run into an area that needs to be changed, she knows exactly how to direct me. She is up to date, well read and extremely knowledgeable and intelligent. She really listens and cares to get the correct diagnosis and isn't satisfied until it's resolved. I feel like she saved my life truly!!

Dr. Shippy is a godsend! I have MS and after a very difficult interferon treatment I decided to try more natural options, and wow, do I feel tons better after a year of treatment with Dr. Shippy. She has delved into my entire health profile and bit by bit, we are fixing EVERYTHING from mineral and amino acid deficiencies, to any bacterial or fungal infections, to heavy metal toxicity. My energy has improved dramatically and I now feel alive and human again. THANK YOU DR. SHIPPY! I highly recommend her to everyone I know!

More than any doctor I have been to, Dr. Ann Shippy's keen diagnostic skills and intuitive sense have quickly identified the root of my health problems on several occasions. She has probably saved my life by helping me to switch courses before it was too late. She is loving and supportive and has always referred me to excellent doctors when I needed an outside specialist. She is so well connected and is so conscious and caring. She is the doctor that I turn to first for everything. I feel very blessed to have found her.
