Dr. Anna Mary Magee, MD

My experience here was nothing short of awful which was not what I was expecting considering my 3 month wait for an appointment. Not only was the front office lady on the phone rude but I was extremely upset by Anna Magee the doctor. What I was most offset by was how she was treating her medical assistant the entire appointment. She was speaking to him in such a demeaning way and rude tone. I couldn't believe it. Her first comment walking in the room was who he was followed by a rude comment. There is no reason why she couldn't be kind and I am sure he would learn a whole lot better with someone who was genuinely a nice person. You could tell she was purposely trying to speak too fast for him to take notes as well and would snip at him and say "Got that?" multiple times throughout. The medical student handled it very professionally though and was polite and could tell he was doing his very best. He was absolutely fantastic when he did the primary discussion with me and was getting all… information he could before grabbing the doctor. As stated by someone else, I also found Anna Magee's bedside manor to be non-existent and I felt as if I were imposing on her by asking questions. She cut me off multiple times while I was speaking. I said I had scaring on my face from acne and she says to her medical assistant "she has no scarring from acne" and later in the appointment prescribed me something for scarring. The result of the appointment was also unsatisfactory and completely missed the mark based on what I have heard from other doctors and was simply a bandaid to the issue not a solution so I could spend more money with them. I was just extremely taken aback by the entire appointment. As a side note, I think the medical student will make a fantastic Doctor and am sure his most valuable lesson he has learned from Anna Magee is how not to treat others below you as well as patients.

I have been seeing Dr. McGee for many years, though I should have changed derm docs a long time ago. She is always so rushed. Last visit, we agreed on a mole to remove and she removed the wrong one. I said something and she removed the correct one but said "Oh well". Thus, my insurance and I were charged for the incorrect removal of the one mole. She is just too rushed - friendly but I don't feel like I get a thorough skin check with her.

Long face. Moved mechanically. Had other victims. Much pain in proceedure. INFECTION! Stay away!

Arrogant attitude. No intro. Un interested. Painful. She could have not been so painful. No eye contact. Didn't want alternative less pain because of time. (Feminist? ) However Ms. Loose just the opposite of Dr. Mcgee! Delicate. Deliberate.Took her time and cared! Real pro!

I am still recovering so I cannot comment on the doctor's technique. I could not exchange a complete sentence with this doctor. This was my first visit, but the doctor offered no time to discuss the patient's needs, expectations or history. I was not able to communicate with the doctor because she was dictating to an assistant in the exam room while she was performing a procedure on me. The lidocaine injection did not numb the delicate spot where the doctor was already removing a cyst with a scalpal. I did manage to communicate this to the doctor and additional lidocaine was applied topically, but the procedure was completed before numbing could occur. My additional concerns were not answered to my satisfaction. When discussing my concerns, the doctor responded 'that is troublesome'. I know it is troublesome, but I thought I was paying a medical expert for just a little more information than 'its troublesome'. Also, when checking in, patients have to stand up to use the… computer and enter their information. There were some elderly patients in the waiting room who probably could not comfortably or easily stand at a computer. I myself had just been standing on my feet for 5 hours and was not prepared to stand another 15 minutes to complete medical history requiring some thought and time.

I have to be honest and say that it has been a numbet of years since I was seen by her, but I am writing a review because my experience with her was so bad that it still lingers in my mind all of these years later. Basically, I went in to be treated for adult acne. She insisted that I take Accutane because, as she described my condition, I had "scarring all over" my face and it was going down my neck. I balked, bc I knew how caustic Accutane was. She asked if I was sexually active, and when I gave my answer, she gave me a one eyebrow look of doubt. At the end, After her insistence, she then said, as an aside, that my skin wasn't bad at all. I looked at her quizzically, and she left the room quickly. In short, she left me feeling haggardly and ugly. I never went back, and I am glad to see I am not the only one with such a terrible experience.

Dr. Magee is a very nice person and a competent dermatologist. She has seen me at least once a year for about five years and has correctly identified many cases of skin cancer. The problem is that the communication in her office is terrible. The nurse calls to inform you that, yes, you have skin cancer and need surgery. The next time you see Dr. Magee she is coming at you with a knife. I have complained about this process before and asked for additional information about my biopsies. Most recently, I got the distinct impression that she was way too busy to talk with me about the three positive biopsies on my face. She declined to give any information about the biopsies other than the diagnosis of basal and squamous cell carcinoma. When asked which of them the plastic surgeon should treat first, she stated she "did not want to go there." Good communication is a major ingredient of good doctoring. For this reason, I would not recommend Dr. Magee to anyone.

2nd. visit with this physician. Seen as scheduled (early). Pleasant intro and thorough examination. Minor treatment completed without fuss. Summary: No complaints and will reschedule next year.

She is a great diagnostician, has a wonderful sense of humor, is gentle and skilled with painful procedures and most important of all she does not push her cosmetic services. Her bedside manner is sensitive and she expresses a genuine interest in you. This is not a complaint but I suspect most clients would prefer full body checks to be done lying down and with a blanket for more discretion/dignity ..........especially if four or five nurses or student nurses are present for the inspection.

Worst experience possible. I had to wait over 40 minutes to be seen and when I finally got admitted I had to wait another 25 minutes to "see" the doctor. Dr. Magee was in the office for a total of 5-10 minutes, didn't do any test at all but was quick and condescending. She pretty much told me I would go bald "eventually", and it was "obvious". Then proceeded to say "have yo tried rogaine?" and when I actually about it, she told me look for it online and that it was an over the counter lotion. Too bad I am actually a doctor as well. To make the story worse, I am actually NOT going bald but was diagnosed with a thyroid condition that interferes with the hair cycle and correlated synchronization. I am actually considering reporting her to the board. Sad and honestly shameful.
